The 'snowline' conventionally divides Solar System objects into dry bodies, ranging out to the main asteroid belt, and icy bodies beyond the belt. Models suggest that some of the icy bodies may have migrated into the asteroid belt. Recent observations indicate the presence of water ice on the surface of some asteroids, with sublimation a potential reason for the dust activity observed on others. Hydrated minerals have been found on the surface of the largest object in the asteroid belt, the dwarf planet (1) Ceres, which is thought to be differentiated into a silicate core with an icy mantle. The presence of water vapour around Ceres was suggested by a marginal detection of the photodissociation product of water, hydroxyl (ref. 12), but could not be confirmed by later, more sensitive observations. Here we report the detection of water vapour around Ceres, with at least 10(26) molecules being produced per second, originating from localized sources that seem to be linked to mid-latitude regions on the surface. The water evaporation could be due to comet-like sublimation or to cryo-volcanism, in which volcanoes erupt volatiles such as water instead of molten rocks.

To solve the existing problems of low yield, uneven quality, and single form of industrially scrambled eggs, we have developed a continuous high-output steam scrambled egg device based on the principle of steam injected. By establishing calibration curves for egg, oil, and steam flow rates, determining the key parameters of the equipment, and simulating the heat transfer process between steam and egg by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), we created the device and verified its production performance. The results show that the capacity of this device can reach 104.

The waste Lentinus edodes stalks from Lentinus edodes processing were used as raw materials by the steam explosion to prepare modified Lentinus edodes stalks dietary fiber and combined with tea polyphenols to form the SE-DF-tea polyphenols complex (SE-DF-TPC). The SE-DF-tea polyphenols mixture (SE-DF-TPM) was prepared according to the complex's optimal adsorption conditions. Fluorescence microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, particle size measurement, thermogravimetric analysis, and X-ray diffraction were used to analyze its structure, and the thermal stability of the complex and its adsorption capacity for lipids, cholesterol, and cholates were studied.

Steam explosion (SE) technology enhances the extraction efficiency of bioactive compounds and their physicochemical properties. This study compared the structural characteristics of κ-carrageenan extracted by SE-assisted alkali treatment and conventional alkali treatment from , as well as the quality attributes of the resulting jellies. The results indicate that SE treatment did not alter the species of carrageenan, but it significantly elevated the content of characteristic carrageenan groups, with the sulfate group content and 3,6-anhydrogalactose (3,6-AG) content increasing by 15.
