Introduction: The parenteral nutrition admixtures are manufactured with an automated compounding BAXA(®) Exacta-Mix 2400. A 48-hour assembly has been validated. To optimize time and cost, a weekly assembly was tested.
Materials And Methods: Assembly was made on the first day. Ten identical parenteral nutrition admixtures (different volumes and compositions) were produced each day. A macroscopic examination was done at D0, D7 and D14. Physicochemical controls (electrolytes determinations by atomic absorption spectrophotometry, osmolalities measurements) were performed. Microbiological tests included a filtration membrane sterility test (Steritest(®)) and a plate count agar environmental monitoring.
Results: All mixtures were considered stable. The 12 Steritest(®) (H24, H48, D7 and D14) did not show any bacterial or fungal contamination. No microorganism has been detected on the plate count agar at D4 and D7. Concerning the physicochemical parameters of each parental nutrition admixture, no significant difference (Wilcoxon test) with the first day was found.
Discussion And Conclusions: The automated filling system BAXA(®) Exacta-Mix 2400 improves the quality and safety of production. According to these results, the weekly assembly is validated and permit to save time (80hours/year) and cost (40 000 euros on consumable/year).

Background And Aim: Bulevirtide (BLV) leads to beneficial virologic and biochemical responses when given alone to treat hepatitis delta virus (HDV) infection, which causes the most severe form of chronic viral hepatitis. We evaluated 48 weeks of BLV monotherapy, BLV + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) and BLV + pegylated interferon alfa-2a (Peg-IFNα-2a), with 24-week follow-up.
Methods: Ninety patients were enrolled into six arms of 15 each (A-F); 60 patients were included in the main randomisation (arms A-D), and 30 patients (arms E-F) were randomised to the extension phase: (A) Peg-IFNα-2a 180 μg once weekly (QW); (B) BLV 2 mg once daily (QD) + Peg-IFNα-2a 180 μg QW; (C) BLV 5 mg QD + Peg-IFNα-2a 180 μg QW; (D) BLV 2 mg QD; (E) BLV 10 mg QD + Peg-IFNα-2a 180 μg QW and (F) BLV 10 mg (5 mg twice daily) + TDF QD.

Wastewater-based surveillance (WBS) allows the analysis of pathogens, chemicals or other biomarkers in wastewater to derive unbiased epidemiological information at population scale. After re-gaining attention during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the field holds promise as a surveillance and early warning system by tracking emerging pathogens with pandemic potential. Expanding the current toolbox of analytical techniques for wastewater analysis, we explored the use of Hyperplex PCR (hpPCR) to analyse SARS-CoV-2 mutations in wastewater samples collected weekly in up to 22 sites across Sweden between October 2022 and December 2023.

UCYN-A (or Atelocyanobacterium thalassa) has been recognized as a globally distributed, early stage, nitrogen-fixing organelle (the "nitroplast") of cyanobacterial origin present in the haptophyte alga . Although the nitroplast was recognized as UCYN-A2, not all sublineages of UCYN-A have been confirmed as nitroplasts, and full genomes are still lacking for several known sublineages. We investigated the differences between UCYN-A sublineages by sequencing and assembly of metagenomic sequences acquired from cultured biomass from NW Atlantic seawater, which yielded near-complete Metagenome Assembled Genomes (MAGs) corresponding to UCYN-A1, -A4, and the plastid of the UCYN-A4-associated Weekly time-series data paired with the recurrence of specific microbes in cultures used for metagenomics gave further insight into the microbial community associated with the algal/UCYN-A complex.

Introduction: Fungi are essential to the aquatic food web, nutrient cycling, energy flow, and ecosystem regulation. Fungal community structures in water can be influenced by adjacent terrestrial environments, which drive and control some ecosystem services they provide. However, the roles of freshwater fungal communities remain underexplored compared to bacterial communities in this context.
