Introduction Mandibular angle fractures can be treated by various methods, but even the most popular methods may not be able to give satisfactory results, as the pterygomasseteric sling and masticatory forces can result in displaced angle fracture. These displaced fragments cannot be satisfactorily retained by single miniplate fixation. The aim of this study is to assess treatment of displaced angle fracture with 3-D miniplate fixation. This study can also be considered as a therapeutic study with level V evidence. Materials and Methods This study was designed to assess the feasibility of 3-D matrix miniplate fixation in displaced angle fractures. Eighteen patients with displaced angle fractures were included in this study. Matrix miniplate fixation was done transorally under general anesthesia. Results All these cases were treated successfully, and common complications like infection (5.5% of patients), wound dehiscence (11%), paresthesia (16.7%), and malocclusion (11%) were observed in our study. Conclusions Three-dimensional miniplate fixation in displaced angle fractures provides better stability and function.

The oil film formed by the adhesion of crude oil to the resin-asphalt adsorption layer is difficult to peel off due to the strong oil-solid interaction, which severely limits further improvements in oil recovery. Although conventional compound oil displacement systems can effectively reduce oil-water interfacial tension, facilitate oil droplet deformation, and alleviate the Jamin effect, they are insufficient in controlling the wettability of oleophilic rock surfaces. In this paper, sodium nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether sulfate (NPES) and sodium lauric acid ethanolamine sulfonate (HLDEA) were compounded to construct an efficient oil displacement system that simultaneously achieves wettability control of lipophilic surfaces and ultralow oil-water interfacial tension.

The study examined the saccadic behavior of 4- to 10-month-old infants when tracking a two-dimensional linear motion of a circle that occasionally bounced off a barrier constituted by the screen edges. It was investigated whether infants could anticipate the angle of the circle's direction after the bounce and the circle's displacement from the location of bounce. Seven bounce types were presented which differed in the angle of incidence.

After open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO), the patella is displaced distally, causing patellofemoral joint degeneration. The objective of this study was to ascertain whether the combination of OWHTO and lateral retinacular release (LRR) can prevent articular cartilage degeneration of the patellofemoral joint using magnetic resonance imaging T2 mapping. This study included 37 patients (37 knees) who underwent OWHTO alone (OWHTO group) and 37 patients (37 knees) who underwent OWHTO with LRR (OWHTO + LRR group) with a correction angle of <10° for varus knee osteoarthritis.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the large deflection problem of bimodular functionally graded truncated thin conical shells under the transverse mechanical load and non-uniform thermal load, in which two different boundary constraints of the truncated shell with two ends simply supported and fully fixed are considered. It is assumed that the temperature distribution along the thickness direction satisfies the Fourier law of heat transfer, and the material properties change exponentially along the thickness direction while different properties in tension and compression are considered. The geometric equation of the conical shell is established based on the equivalent method of curvature correction of von-Kármán deformation theory, and the analytical solution of the problem is obtained by Ritz method.

Background: We aimed to synthesize the kinematics and kinetics during landing and walking/running tasks of ankle copers compared with patients with chronic ankle instability and controls.
Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, CINAHL, SPORTDiscus, and Web of Science. Tri-planar lower extremity biomechanics (joint angle and moment at maximum and initial contact, and joint displacement) were synthesized using standard mean difference and 95 % confidence intervals.
