Osseointegration, defined as a direct structural and functional connection between ordered, living bone and the surface of a load-carrying implant, is critical for implant stability, and is considered a prerequisite for implant loading and long-term clinical success of end osseous dental implants. The implant-tissue interface is an extremely dynamic region of interaction. This complex interaction involves not only biomaterial and biocompatibility issues but also alteration of mechanical environment. The processes of osseointegration involve an initial interlocking between alveolar bone and the implant body, and later, biological fixation through continuous bone apposition and remodeling toward the implant. The process itself is quite complex and there are many factors that influence the formation and maintenance of bone at the implant surface. The aim of this present review is to analysis the current understanding of clinical assessments and factors that determine the success & failure of osseointegrated dental implants.

Objectives: This study investigated the effects of thread design on the soft and hard tissues around implants in rat maxillary peri-implantitis-like lesions.
Methods: Fourteen, 9-week-old, female Wistar rats were used in this study. Two types of grade IV titanium tissue-level implants with a standard V-shape and buttress threads were prepared (control and test implants, respectively).

: Defects in maxillary and mandibular continuity are common in maxillofacial practice. They can occur after trauma, osteonecrosis, congenital jaw deformities, or surgical resection of benign or malignant tumours. Reconstruction with microvascular bone flaps and subsequent prosthetic rehabilitation is considered the contemporary first line treatment.

Transalveolar sinus floor elevation (TSFE) is a surgical technique for the placement of dental implants in patients with reduced height of the maxillary posterior alveolar bone. This study aims to demonstrate the clinical outcomes of TSFE using the minimal invasive sinus elevation (MISE) technique in partially and totally edentulous maxillary patients. This prospective clinical study followed STROBE guidelines.

: Cytokines related to the Th17 response have been associated with peri-implant diseases; however, the effect of peri-implant therapy on their modulation remains underexplored. To evaluate the effect of peri-implant therapy on the expression of cytokines related to the Th17 response in the peri-implant crevicular fluid (PICF) (GM-CSF, IFN-γ, IL-1β, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12 (p70), IL-17A, IL-21, IL-23, and TNF-α) of partially edentulous patients with peri-implant disease (PID). : Thirty-seven systemically healthy individuals presenting with peri-implant mucositis (PIM) (n = 20) or peri-implantitis (PI) (n = 17) were treated and evaluated at baseline (T0) and three months after therapy (T1).

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate autologous platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) membrane weights and measurements after production by different centrifuges. Moreover, the values obtained with blood cellular components were correlated.
Methods: Twelve systemically healthy participants underwent dental implant surgery associated with PRF membranes as the graft biomaterial at the implant site.
