The maturation state and density of human cartilage microtissues influence their fusion and development into scaled-up grafts.

Acta Biomater

Electronic address:

Functional cartilaginous tissues can potentially be engineered by bringing together numerous microtissues (µTs) and allowing them to fuse and re-organize into larger, structurally organized grafts. The maturation level of individual microtissues is known to influence their capacity to fuse, however its impact on the long-term development of the resulting tissue remains unclear. The first objective of this study was to investigate the influence of the maturation state of human bone-marrow mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (hBM-MSCSs) derived microtissues on their fusion capacity and the phenotype of the final engineered tissue.

Ongoing challenges in the provision of care, driven by growing care complexity and nursing shortages, prompt us to reconsider the basis for efficient division of nursing labour. In organising nursing work, traditionally the focus has been on identifying nursing tasks that can be delegated to other less expensive and less highly educated staff, in order to make best use of scarce resources. We argue that nursing care activities are connected and intertwined.

Design and synthesis of isatin derivative payloaded peptide-drug conjugate as tubulin inhibitor against colorectal cancer.

Eur J Med Chem

January 2025

China International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Food Nutrition/Safety and Medicinal Chemistry, Tianjin University of Science and Technology, Tianjin, 300457, China. Electronic address:

A series of isatin derivatives which could inhibit colorectal cancer (CRC) were synthesized. Among those compounds, 5B exhibited good inhibitory activity of CRC through the inhibition of tubulin expression, inducing apoptosis, and causing G2/M phase cell cycle arrest pathway, which suggested that 5B could be a potential tubulin inhibitor. Based on that, a novel peptide-drug conjugate (PDC), which employed the CRC cells related receptor CD44 ligand peptide A6 coupling to 5B to accomplish A6-5B.

Using harmonicity to facilitate binaural fusion.

JASA Express Lett

January 2025

Speech and Hearing Science Department, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Champaign, Illinois 61820,

Harmonicity is an organizing principle in the auditory system, facilitating auditory object formation. The goal of the current study is to determine if harmonicity also facilitates binaural fusion. Participants listened to pairs of two-tone harmonic complex tones that were harmonically or inharmonically related to each other.

Introduction: Strategic knowledge mobilization efforts are needed to enhance uptake and use of the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines (24HMG), which describe optimal amounts of physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep each day for overall health. The Whole Day Matters Toolkit for Primary Care is an evidence-informed resource to help primary care providers (PCPs) disseminate the 24HMGs. The purpose of this study was to describe gaining consensus on toolkit components through iterative revisions to improve its utility in preparation for the September 2022 launch, and to summarize early dissemination efforts.
