Background: The prospective application of plasma Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA load as a noninvasive measure of intestinal EBV infection remains unexplored. This study aims to identify ideal threshold levels for plasma EBV DNA loads in the diagnosis and outcome prediction of intestinal EBV infection, particularly in cases of primary intestinal lymphoproliferative diseases and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Methods: Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were examined to determine suitable thresholds for plasma EBV DNA load in diagnosing intestinal EBV infection and predicting its prognosis.

Objective: Recent studies have proposed that Krebs cycle metabolites may serve as potential biomarkers for prognosis in sepsis. However, whether these metabolites are associated with disease severity and can be applied to improve the effectiveness of current prognosis assessment in sepsis remains unclear and is explored in this study.
Methods: This prospective multicenter cohort study was conducted in medical intensive care units (ICUs).

Introduction: After the neonatal period Eimeriosis is one of the most common causes of large intestinal diarrhea in calves. In contrast to neonatal calves with diarrhea, there are very few reports about the clinicopathological alterations in affected animals, which are mainly based on experimental data. The aim of the present study was therefore to characterize acid-base and related clinicopathologic alterations in calves with Eimeria-associated diarrhea and to identify variables associated with in-hospital mortality.

Blepharospasm (BSP) is a common focal movement disorder linked to the basal ganglia and plasma catecholamines (CAs). This study aimed to analyze clinical characteristics of BSP patients and explore the relationship with plasma CAs. Clinical characteristics, clinician-rated scales, and plasma CAs were recorded, including dopamine (DA), 3-methoxytyramine (3-MT), and the 3-MT/DA ratio.

High concentrations of neutrophil degranulation products in the plasma and thrombi are poor prognostic indicators in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). This study aimed to identify candidate effectors capable of mediating neutrophil degranulation post-AIS, and to reveal their underlying epigenetic mechanisms. Microarrays and ChIP-seq were applied to analyze the neutrophils of patients with AIS.
