Purpose: To investigate the development of macular edema (ME) in relation to the duration of uveitis and visual outcome in uveitis associated with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).

Methods: Sixty-one patients with JIA-uveitis (116 eyes) were investigated by Cirrus OCT for macular thickness. The relation between macular thickness and time interval since onset of uveitis and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was analyzed by linear mixed effect models.

Results: Duration of follow-up showed significant positive linear relation with central macular thickness. The central macular thickness showed a significant linear relation with BCVA, but not with disease activity. Thirteen patients developed ME (central field thickness >304.4 µm) after a mean time interval of 11.6 years. Thirteen patients had macular thinning after a significant longer interval of uveitis compared to patients with normal or thickened macula.

Conclusions: Duration of JIA-uveitis is positively correlated with the development of ME, compromising the visual acuity.

Purpose: To study choroidal thickness (CT) and luminal areas of choroidal vessels in the setting of fovea-off rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD).

Methods: Twenty-seven eyes with RRD were prospectively studied before and after pars plana vitrectomy and SF6 tamponade, using swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT). CT was measured pre- and postoperatively both subfoveally and in attached macular areas.

Dual inhibition of the angiopoietin (Ang)/Tie and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signalling pathways in patients with retinal diseases, such as neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular oedema (DME), may induce greater vascular stability and contribute to increased treatment efficacy and durability compared with treatments that only target the VEGF pathway. Faricimab, a bispecific intravitreal agent that inhibits both VEGF and Ang-2, is the first injectable ophthalmic drug to achieve treatment intervals of up to 16 weeks in Phase 3 studies for nAMD and DME while exhibiting improvements in visual acuity and retinal thickness. Data from real-world studies have supported the safety, visual and anatomic benefits and durability of faricimab, even in patients who were previously treated with other intravitreal agents.

The impact of various neurodegenerative diseases on the retina has been investigated in recent years using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Epilepsy, classified as a neurodegenerative disorder, has been indicated to affect the structural integrity of the retina. Moreover, there is ongoing debate regarding the relative contribution of disease pathogenesis and the consumption of anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) to these retinal changes.

Purpose: To investigate the repeatability of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) parameters in participants with different severities of glaucoma.

Methods: Subjects with open-angle glaucoma were enrolled prospectively and categorised into mild (mean deviation [MD] of 24-2 visual field test ≥ -6 dB), moderate to advanced (-6 > MD ≥ -20 dB) and severe glaucoma groups (MD < -20 dB). OCTA was performed three times within a single visit to obtain superficial and deep macular vessel density (VD) and peripapillary vessel and capillary density.

Purpose: To determine how Hardy-Rand-Rittler (HRR) colour vision testing correlates with visual functional and structural assessments in Cone and Cone-Rod Dystrophy.

Methods: Thirty-four Cone and 69 Cone-Rod Dystrophy patients diagnosed by electroretinography (ERG) at the Save Sight Institute in Sydney were included in a retrospective analysis. Each patient's HRR colour vision test scores were compared with markers of cone and rod system function including visual acuity (VA), ERG responses, changes on Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Fundus Autofluorescence.
