The complete mitogenome sequence of Hampala macrolepidota was determined using PCR reactions. The genome is 16,766 bp in length, including 13 typical vertebrate protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and a control region. Except for eight tRNA and ND6 genes, all other mitochondrial genes are encoded on the heavy strand. The codon usage followed the typical vertebrate mitochondrial pattern (ATG or GTG for start codon and TAA or TAG for stop codon). There are seven regions of gene overlap totaling 25 bp and 13 intergenic spacer regions totaling 70 bp. The control region harbor 88 bp tandem repeats.

This study aimed to determine toxic element concentrations in aquatic environments, including water and sediment, and in the fish, and to evaluate chromosome abnormalities, serum liver enzyme changes and liver histopathological alterations in from the Nam Kok River near the Sepon gold-copper mine, Lao People's Democratic Republic, as compared with a control area without mining activity. The results revealed significant differences ( < 0.05) in As, Ba, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Se and Zn in water, in all of the studied potentially toxic elements in sediment, and in As, Ba, Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Se, and Zn in the fish between the study and control areas.

Condition index, reproduction and feeding of three non-obligatory riverine Mekong cyprinids namely , and were examined. The samples were from the Nam Ngiep (NN) River and Bueng Khong Long (BKL) Swamp, which are the representative of the lotic- and lentic-environments, respectively. These two habitats lay in the same geographical area but on the opposite banks of the Mekong mainstream.

A survey was conducted to determine the diversity of fish in Pergau Lake, Jeli, Kelantan, Malaysia from 2 September to 18 October of 2016. Fish samples were collected at seven random sampling stations around the lake by using setting trap method. The collected samples were preserved in 10% formalin solution and delivered to the laboratory for further identification process.

One of the oldest reservoirs in Peninsular Malaysia, Bukit Merah Reservoir, is a place in which locals participate in fishing activities. Inland fisheries are important to individuals, society and the environment; whereby they generate a source of income and food security. It is essential to gauge the nutrition value of fish caught in this location as food source, especially in terms of fatty acid composition, to better demonstrate its potential towards the betterment of human health and general well-being.

To understand the effects of fish predator's kairomones on mosquitoes' oviposition, we established an experiment using gravid females. Kairomones concentrations were established using One individual fish was placed inside containers with varying water levels (1 L, 5 L, and 10 L of water). The fish were kept in the containers for 24 hours and were removed immediately at the start of each trial in order to have the kairomones remnants.
