The previously reported Template system for the prediction of human CYP2B6-mediated reactions (Drug Metab Pharmacokinet 26 309-330, 2011) has been refined with the introduction of ideas of allowable width, Trigger-residue and the residue-initiated movement of ligands in the active site. The refined system also includes ideas of bi-molecule binding on Template. With the use of these ideas in common with other Template systems for human CYP1A1, CYP1A2, CYP2C8, CYP2C9, CYP2C18, CYP2C19, CYP2E1, and CYP3A4, 360 reactions of 261 distinct chemicals reported as CYP2B6 ligands were examined in the refined system.

Heme is known to bind to the intrinsically disordered region (IDR) to regulate protein function. The binding of heme to the IDR of transcription factor BACH2 promotes plasma cell differentiation, but the molecular basis is unknown. Heme was found to increase BACH2 IDR interaction with TANK-binding kinase 1 (TBK1).

Background/aim: Breast cancer is mostly affected by estrogen, which promotes proliferation, tumorigenesis, and cancer progression. Estrogen sulfotransferase (SULT1E1) catalyzes sulfation to inactivate estrogens, whereas steroid sulfatase (STS) catalyzes estrogen sulfate hydrolysis to activate estrogens in breast cancer cells. Three major organosulfur compounds in garlic (Allium sativum L.

Membrane bioreactors (MBRs) are effective sewage treatment technologies, yet the differences in virus removal efficiency between aerobic (AeMBR) and anaerobic membrane bioreactors (AnMBR), remain inadequately understood. This study compared the virus removal efficiency of AeMBR and AnMBR, focusing on the interactions between aerobic (AeS) and anaerobic (AnS) activated sludge and viruses in the sewage treatment process. Results showed average log removal values (LRVs) for MS2 of 2.

Pre-immunization with inactivated antigens has been developed as an alternative to the use of 'dirty' mice, which in contrast to specific pathogen free (SPF) mice, harbour a range of pathogens. Within certain research areas, such mice are considered better models for humans than SPF mice, as they have an immune system that better mirrors human immunity. We inactivated murine adenovirus type 1 (FL), minute virus of mice, mouse hepatitis virus (A59), respirovirus muris (Sendai), Theiler's encephalomyelitis virus (GD7) and by ultraviolet irradiation.
