Development and evaluation of deuterated [F]JHU94620 isotopologues for the non-invasive assessment of the cannabinoid type 2 receptor in brain.

Background: The cannabinoid type 2 receptors (CB2R) represent a target of increasing importance in neuroimaging due to its upregulation under various neuropathological conditions. Previous evaluation of [F]JHU94620 for the non-invasive assessment of the CB2R availability by positron emission tomography (PET) revealed favourable binding properties and brain uptake, however rapid metabolism, and generation of brain-penetrating radiometabolites have been its main limitations. To reduce the bias of CB2R quantification by blood-brain barrier (BBB)-penetrating radiometabolites, we aimed to improve the metabolic stability by developing -d and -d deuterated isotopologues of [F]JHU94620.

Introduction: Adjustable lifestyle factors, such as diet, are associated with cognitive functions, structural and functional brain measures, but the association between the functional connectivity (FC) and the Mediterranean Diet (Medicine) in population without dementia is yet to be explored.

Methods: The association between MeDi and brain FC in 105 individuals without dementia aged 63 (SD ± 8.72) years old who underwent brain MRI including resting-state (rs) functional MRI (fMRI) was examined.

Understanding transcription profiles of living tissues is critical for biology and medicine. However, measurement of the transcript levels is typically done in homogenized tissues post-mortem. Here, we present a new platform that enables non-invasive monitoring of specific mRNA levels , without tissue destruction.

The contributions of relative brain viscosity to brain function and health.

Magnetic resonance elastography has emerged over the last two decades as a non-invasive method for quantitatively measuring the mechanical properties of the brain. Since the inception of the technology, brain stiffness has been the primary metric used to describe brain microstructural mechanics. However, more recently, a secondary measure has emerged as both theoretical and experimental significance, which is the ratio of tissue viscosity relative to tissue elasticity.

Diffusion tensor imaging along the perivascular space: the bias from crossing fibres.

Brain Commun

November 2024

Department of Clinical Sciences, Diagnostic Radiology, Medical Faculty, Lund University, 221 85 Lund, Sweden.

Non-invasive evaluation of glymphatic function has emerged as a crucial goal in neuroimaging, and diffusion tensor imaging along the perivascular space (DTI-ALPS) has emerged as a candidate method for this purpose. Reduced ALPS index has been suggested to indicate impaired glymphatic function. However, the potential impact of crossing fibres on the ALPS index has not been assessed, which was the aim of this cross-sectional study.
