Abstract A 56-year-old male patient had suffered from recurrent oral aphthae, acne-like rashes on the face, an erythema nodosum-like rash on the left lower leg, and severe heel pain on the left-hand side. Colonoscopy revealed six ulcerative lesions in the terminal ileum. Ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging showed an inflammatory lesion in the Achilles tendons, with greater inflammation on the left. Achilles tendonitis was considered to be a peripheral enthesopathy in this patient with Behçet's disease complicated by an ileal ulcer.

Purpose We aimed to report an innovative single-site endoscopic surgery for soft tissue lesions performed at our center. Methods All patients who underwent soft tissue surgery were reviewed. All consecutive patients who underwent single-site endoscopic surgery between September 2019 and March 2024 were included in the study.

A motion-responsive injectable lubricative hydrogel for efficient Achilles tendon adhesion prevention.

Basic Research Key Laboratory of General Surgery for Digital Medicine, Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University, Baoding, 071000, China.

Achilles tendon is a motor organ that is prone to tissue adhesion during its repair process after rupture. Therefore, developing motion-responsive and anti-adhesive biomaterials is an important need for the repair of Achilles tendon rupture. Here, we report an injectable lubricative hydrogel (ILH) based on hydration lubrication mechanism, which is also motion-responsive based on sol-gel reversible transmission.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the timing and mode of failure of metallic screw-type suture anchors used to attach artificial tendons to bone in an New Zealand White rabbit model.

Study Design: Metal suture anchors with braided composite sutures of varying sizes (United States Pharmacopeia (USP) size 1, 2, or 5) were used to secure artificial tendons replacing both the Achilles and tibialis cranialis tendons in 12 female New Zealand White rabbits. Artificial tendons were implanted either at the time of (immediate replacement,  = 8), or four/five weeks after (delayed replacement,  = 4) resection of the biological tendon.

Fabrication of a micropatterned shape-memory polymer patch with L-DOPA for tendon regeneration.

A scaffold design for tendon regeneration has been proposed, which mimics the microstructural features of tendons and provides appropriate mechanical properties. We synthesized a temperature-triggered shape-memory polymer (SMP) using the ring-opening polymerization of polycaprolactone (PCL) with polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a macroinitiator. We fabricated a micropatterned patch using SMP capillary force lithography, which mimicked a native tendon, for providing physical cues and guiding effects.
