Conductive composite films comprised of single-walled carbon nanotubes coated with molecularly imprinted poly-4-vinylphenol are produced and characterized using ultraviolet and infrared spectroscopies, confirming the successful molecular imprinting of the film with cotinine. The electrical resistance of the imprinted film changes significantly upon binding cotinine, by more than 30 kΩ, while the unimprinted film in comparison elicits little response. Additionally, once the cotinine template desorbs from the film, the resistance of the imprinted film returns to a value close to the pre-adsorption baseline. Scanning electron microscopy is used to study the morphology of the film compared with the unimprinted control, and gas chromatography quantitatively confirms that the imprinted film selectively detects cotinine while discriminating against the structurally similar alkaloid, nicotine.

Fluoropolymer alone, as an alternative to lead-based piezoelectric materials, has shown multiple challenges to develop useful sensors for solving real-world problems such as photoacoustic, ultrasound pulse echo, and other non-destructive testing. This work demonstrates the fabrication of high frequency and wide bandwidth transducers with fluoropolymer and highly polarizing cubic single crystal Barium titanate (BaTiO) ceramic composite for high resolution in-vivo photo-acoustic and ultrasound imaging. For transducer fabrication, a customized bio-compatible nanocomposite sensor film of PVDF-TrFE (Polyvinylidene fluoride trifluoroethylene)/BaTiO (BTO) is synthesized by drop and dry in heating-cum-electro-poling system for advancing polarization, crystallinity, and higher charge generation.

Well-designed artificial scaffolds are urgently needed due to the limited self-repair capacity of bone, which hampers effective regeneration in critical defects. Optimal scaffolds must provide physical guidance to recruit cells and immune regulation to improve the regenerative microenvironment. This study presents a novel scaffold composed of dual-sided centripetal microgrooved poly(D,L-lactide-co-caprolactone) (PLCL) film combined with a dynamic hydrogel containing prednisolone (PLS)-loaded Prussian blue nanoparticles (PB@PLS).

Photostimulus-responsive fluorescent materials are promising for anticounterfeiting and UV printing due to rapid response and simple preparation. In this paper, we propose a novel strategy to prepare photostimulus-responsive materials SP@HOF-olefin by integrating the photochromic molecule spiropyran (SP) with postsynthetic modified hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOF-olefin). Compared to SP@HOF, the composites SP@HOF-olefin exhibit enhanced photochromic properties, such as a fast response speed, pronounced color contrast, and exceptional fatigue resistance.

Diabetes is a disorder attributed to impaired production or utilization of insulin and requires rapid precise monitoring of glucose levels. The fabrication of nanotechnology-based non-invasive biosensors for glucose detection holds significant promise for improved diabetes care and point-of-care diagnostics. The study demonstrates a novel molecularly imprinted polymers (ADMIPs) based sensitive biosensor for glucose estimation in saliva using three distinct sensing platforms -cotton swab, paper strip and polymeric film by colorimetric assay.

A novel monomer, 9-bis[4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl]fluorene di(mercaptopropionate), with a highly refractive index, purity, and excellent UV-curable properties, is synthesized through an optimized Fischer esterification process, reacting 9,9-bis[4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl]fluorene with 3-mercaptopropionic acid. The structural characterization of this monomer is performed using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, high-performance liquid chromatography, and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The synthesis conditions are optimized using a design-of-experiments approach.
