Purpose Of Review: This paper reviews the most recent literature from January 2023 to August 2024 on the physiological effects of n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), with a focus on linoleic acid (LA).

Recent Findings: Contrary to previous concerns that high LA intake may increase inflammation, most recent evidence supports the benefits of LA for cardiometabolic health. Several large studies report that higher blood LA levels correlate with reduced risks of coronary heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.

Background: More than 2/3 of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) patients are women, which has led to increased interest in the neurophysiological impact of estrogen decline during menopause. While early evidence suggested that hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may be protective against dementia, more recent studies have found inconclusive or even harmful effects.

Venom-induced consumption coagulopathy (VICC) is a serious complication of snakebites, potentially leading to life-threatening bleeding. Despite efforts to determine effective treatments other than antivenom, such as heparin, the evidence supporting their use remains insufficient. Therefore, this study aimed to perform a systematic review, meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis (TSA) to examine the effects of heparin on VICC.

Introduction: Pharmacogenomic testing in psychiatry is an emerging area with potential clinical application of guiding medication choice and dosing. Pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) is a complex condition in which 2 consequential diseases interact and increase negative outcomes. Although the pathophysiologic mechanisms of PH-ILD are not yet well understood, the pronounced effect on functional status, supplemental oxygen requirements, health care resource utilization, and mortality that frequently accompany this diagnosis are well documented. A critical feature that complicates pathophysiologic understanding of PH-ILD is that progression of the pulmonary vascular disease does not always appear to be driven by the underlying lung disease.
