In this communication, we report the unusual Raman spectra of para-nitroaniline (PNA) by sequential Fermi resonances. The combinational mode 1292 cm(-1) in the experimental Raman spectrum indirectly gains the initial spectral weight at 1392 cm(-1) by three sequential Fermi resonances. These Fermi resonances result in the strong interaction between the donor group of NH2 and the acceptor group of NO2. Our theoretical calculations provide reasonable interpretation for the abnormal Raman spectra of PNA. Experimental surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectrum of PNA further confirmed our conclusion, where the strongest Raman peak at 1292 cm(-1) is very weak, while the Raman peak at 1392 cm(-1) becoming the strongest Raman peak, which is consistent with the theoretical simulations.

Fermi polarons are emerging quasiparticles when a bosonic impurity immersed in a fermionic bath. Depending on the boson-fermion interaction strength, the Fermi-polaron resonances exhibit either attractive or repulsive interactions, which impose further experimental challenges on understanding the subtle light-driven dynamics. Here, we report the light-driven dynamics of attractive and repulsive Fermi polarons in monolayer WSe devices.

A photodetachment and photoelectron spectroscopic study by employing a cryogenically cooled ion trap combined with a velocity-map imaging setup has been carried out to unravel the vibrational structures and autodetachment dynamics of the dipole-bound states (DBSs) of -, -, and -methylphenolate anions (-, -, and -CHPhO). The electron binding energy of the DBS increases monotonically with the increase of the neutral dipole moment to give respective values of 66 ± 15, 123 ± 18, or 154 ± 14 cm for the -, -, or -isomer. The different electron-donating effects of the methyl moieties in the three geometrically different isomers seem to be reflected in the experiment.

In this study, the rhombohedral crystalline pure phase BiFeO (BFO) of irregularly shaped spherical particles of ≈100 nm and energy bandgap of ≈2.31 eV are synthesized by sol-gel auto-combustion method and explored as electrode material for photo-assisted supercapacitor. The electronic structure studies revealed that the coexistence of heterovalent Bi and Fe elements accelerated the electrochemical redox kinetics and photo-assisted charge storage properties.

The decoupling of electronic states between metals and semiconductors through controlled construction of artificial van der Waals (vdW) heterojunctions enables tailored Schottky barriers. However, the interfacial chemistry, especially involving solid-liquid interfaces, remains unexplored. Here, first principles calculations reveal unexpected strong Fermi-level pinning in various metal/MoS vdW heterojunctions with intercalated ice-like water bilayers.

The strong coupling between infrared photonic resonances and vibrational transitions of organic molecules is called vibrational strong coupling (VSC), which presents attractive prospects for modifying molecular chemical characteristics and behaviors. Currently, VSC studies suffer from limited bandwidth or enormous mode volumes. In addition, in certain instances, the absorption spectrum of VSC is weaker, thus impeding the effective monitoring of the VSC effect.
