Patient-derived xenografts (PDXs) provide biologically relevant models and potential platforms for the development of treatment strategies for precision medicine in pancreatic cancer. Furthermore, circulating epithelial tumor cells (CETCs/CTCs) are released into the bloodstream by solid tumors and a rare subpopulation-circulating cancer stem cells (cCSCs) - is considered to be responsible for recurrence and plays a key role in metastasis. For the identification of cCSCs, an innovative in vitro assay to generate tumorspheres was established in this study.

Background: Inadequate pulmonary blood flow in tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) can lead to the development of major aortopulmonary collateral arteries (MAPCA), which interferes with surgical repair. The present study evaluated the features of MAPCAs among patients with TOF and their treatment approaches. Besides, perioperative parameters and mortality rates of our TOF patients with and without MAPCA were compared.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a prevalent malignant tumor that presents significant challenges to both public health and healthcare systems. The aim of this study was to develop a machine learning model based on five years of clinical follow-up data from CRC patients to accurately identify individuals at risk of poor prognosis. This study included 411 CRC patients who underwent surgery at Yixing Hospital and completed the follow-up process.

Introduction: Return-to-acute-care metrics, such as early emergency department (ED) visits, are key indicators of healthcare quality, with ED returns following surgery often considered avoidable and costly events. Proactively identifying patients at high risk of ED return can support quality improvement efforts, allowing interventions to target vulnerable patients. With its predictive capabilities, machine learning (ML) has shown potential in forecasting various clinical outcomes but remains underutilised in orthopaedic trauma.

Sarcopenia was defined as the progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength associated with aging. The aim of this study was to explore the prevalence of POD and sarcopenia in geriatric patients undergoing hip fracture surgeries and to investigate the correlation between preoperative sarcopenia and POD.
