An analysis of complex laboratory, ultrasonic investigations and following treatment of 120 patients with acute surface varicothrombophlebitis was made. The patients were divided into two groups, each being 60 people. In the first control group the treatment was conducted in one step: standard venectomy was performed at high point of inflammatory process. In the main group, the development of thrombotic process was prevented by sclerosurgical technology at the first stage. Radical treatment was carried out at the second stage after 4-6 weeks. The number of complications in near-term postoperative period decreased in 5% and in long-term in 13.3%, the quality of life increased in 13.3% in second group patients.

Insulin-secreting allogeneic cell therapies are a promising treatment for type 1 diabetes, with the potential to eliminate hypoglycemia and long-term complications of the disease. However, chronic systemic immunosuppression is necessary to prevent graft rejection, and the acute risks associated with immunosuppression limit the number of patients who can be treated with allogeneic cell therapies. Islet macroencapsulation in a hydrogel biomaterial is one proposed method to reduce or eliminate immune suppression; however, macroencapsulation devices suffer from poor oxygen transport and limited efficacy as they scale to large animal model preclinical studies and clinical trials.

Infectious diseases, especially respiratory infections, have been significant threats to human health. Therefore, it is essential to develop rapid, portable, and highly sensitive diagnostic methods for their control. Herein, a short-time preamplified, one-pot clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) nucleic acid detection method (SPOC) is developed by combining the rapid recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) with CRISPR-Cas12a to reduce the mutual interference and achieve facile and rapid molecular diagnosis.

-(1,3-Dimethylbutyl)-'-phenyl--phenylenediamine-quinone (6PPD-Q) is a rubber-tire derivative which leaches into surface waters from roadway runoff, from tire particles and has been identified as a possible driver of urban runoff mortality syndrome in coho salmon. Sensitivity to this toxicant is highly variable across fish species and life stages. With environmental concentrations meeting or exceeding toxicity thresholds in sensitive fishes, the potential for ecologically relevant effects is significant.

Background: Manganese (Mn) is an essential metal that serves as a cofactor for metalloenzymes important in moderating the glutamate/glutamine cycle and other oxidative stress pathways. Typically, Mn is acquired through the diet, however, Mn overexposure can arise through drinking inadequately treated well water or inhalation of Mn-containing industrial byproducts. Mn toxicity disrupts dopaminergic neurotransmission resulting in a Parkinsonian disorder referred to as manganism.

Background: While disease-modifying treatments that reduce Aβ have been recently approved by the FDA, the identification of novel therapeutic targets and strategies that target underlying mechanisms to delay the AD development are still needed. Abnormal brain energy homeostasis and mitochondria dysfunction are observed early in AD. Therefore, the development of treatments to restore these defects could be beneficial.
