Aim: To design new derivatives of aryl-propionic acid with potential antibacterial and antioxidant activity.

Material And Methods: New hydrazone of ibuprofen (2-(4-isobutylphenyl)propionic acid) have been synthesized by reaction of ethyl ester of ibuprofen with hydrazine hydrate and then condensation of corresponding hydrazide with various aromatic aldehydes.

Results: The synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity against Gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Sarcinalutea ATCC 9341, Bacillus cereus ATCC 14579, Bacillus subtilis) and Gram negative bacterial strains (Escherichia coli ATCC 25922). Some of them were found to have good antibacterial activity. The antioxidant activity of these compounds was also tested using the total antiox idant capacity test.

Conclusions: The chemical modulations performed on ibuprofen structure have a good influence on the biological activity of the synthesized compounds.

Ibuprofen, a widely used NSAID from the aryl propionic acid class, effectively relieves pain, fever, and inflammation. On prolonged use, it leads to gastrointestinal, hepatic, and renal toxicities, particularly gastrointestinal ulcers. These side effects are largely attributed to the carboxylic acid functional group common to NSAIDs.

Background: Aryl-propionic acid derivatives with ibuprofen as representative drug are very important for therapy, being recommended especially for anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. On other hand 1,3-thiazolidine-4-one scaffold is an important heterocycle, which is associated with different biological effects such as anti-inflammatory and analgesic, antioxidant, antiviral, antiproliferative, antimicrobial etc. The present study aimed to evaluated the toxicity degree and the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of new 1,3-thiazolidine-4-one derivatives of ibuprofen.

Attributed to several side effects, especially on hepatic tissues and body weight, there is always an urge of innovation and upgrading in already existing medication being used in maintaining diabetic condition. Therefore, in the present work, forty-eight molecules derived from arylpropionic acid scaffold were synthesized and their evaluation against diabetes was carried out. The synthesis of these molecules attributed to excellent dock score displayed by all the structures performed against PPAR-γ receptor site.

Synthesis, molecular docking and biological evaluation of novel phthaloyl derivatives of 3-amino-3-aryl propionic acids as inhibitors of Trypanosoma cruzi trans-sialidase.

Eur J Med Chem

August 2018

Laboratorio de Biotecnología Farmacéutica, Centro de Biotecnología Genómica, Instituto Politécnico Nacional, 88700, Reynosa, Mexico. Electronic address:

In the last two decades, trans-sialidase of Trypanosoma cruzi (TcTS) has been an important pharmacological target for developing new anti-Chagas agents. In a continuous effort to discover new potential TcTS inhibitors, 3-amino-3-arylpropionic acid derivatives (series A) and novel phthaloyl derivatives (series B, C and D) were synthesized and molecular docking, TcTS enzyme inhibition and determination of trypanocidal activity were carried out. From four series obtained, compound D-11 had the highest binding affinity value (-11.
