Acute motor and sensory axonal neuropathy (AMSAN) are recently described subtypes of Guillain-Barre syndrome characterized by acute onset of distal weakness, loss of deep tendon reflexes, and sensory symptoms. A 21-yr-old male was transferred to our hospital due to respiration difficulties and progressive weakness. In laboratory findings, immunoglobulin M antibodies against hepatitis A were detected in blood and cerebrospinal fluid. The findings of motor nerve conduction studies showed markedly reduced amplitudes of compound muscle action potentials in bilateral peroneal, and posterior tibial nerves, without evidence of demyelination. Based on clinical features, laboratory findings, and electrophysiologic investigation, the patient was diagnosed the AMSAN following acute hepatitis A viral infection. The patient was treated with intravenous immunoglobulin and recovered slowly. Clinicians should consider this rare but a serious case of AMSAN following acute hepatitis A infection.

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC), also known as stress-induced cardiomyopathy, is a rare condition in children that causes acute, severe, but often reversible systolic dysfunction of the left ventricle. Physical trauma is a recognized trigger, although distinguishing TTC from myocardial contusion in pediatric trauma cases can be challenging due to overlapping clinical features. We present the case of a six-year-old boy involved in a high-impact motor vehicle collision.

We describe a case of GBS with initially preserved reflexes and power, leading to delayed diagnosis, who latterly required urgent ventilator support and plasmapharesis to highlight the importance of considering atypical presentations of this common condition.

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) presents complex clinical challenges, particularly in patients receiving anticoagulation therapy. This case report discusses the management of acute ICH in a 60-year-old male patient on long-term apixaban therapy, who arrived at the emergency department with altered consciousness, right-sided hemiplegia, and mixed aphasia. Computed tomography (CT) imaging revealed a 70 ml left lenticular-capsular hematoma with significant mass effect, necessitating rapid intervention.

The anti-atherosclerotic effects of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) prevent the onset of cerebral infarction and provide cerebroprotective effects against ischemia-reperfusion injury. These inhibitory effects have been attributed to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antithrombotic properties. However, pharmacotherapeutic strategies to clinically realize these effects have not been demonstrated.

Introduction: Women with early bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO) have greater Alzheimer's disease (AD) risk than women with spontaneous menopause (SM), but the pathway toward this risk is understudied. Considering associative memory deficits may reflect early signs of AD, we studied how BSO affected brain activity underlying associative memory.
Methods: Early midlife women with BSO (with and without 17β-estradiol therapy [ET]) and age-matched controls (AMCs) with intact ovaries completed a face-name associative memory task during functional magnetic resonance imaging.
