Aim: To define the incidence, presentation, and outcomes of drug-induced Torsades de Pointes (TdP) with intravenous (IV) amiodarone.

Methods: From January 2014 to August 2016 a total of 268 patients received IV amiodarone, 142 for ventricular tachycardia, 104 for atrial flutter/fibrillation, and 22 for incessant atrial tachycardia. A uniform dosing of amiodarone to yield 1gm/day was used in all patients.

Evaluation and management of bradycardia in neonates and children.

Eur J Pediatr

Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Division of Pediatric Electrophysiology, Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, USA.

Unlabelled: Heart rate is commonly used in pediatric early warning scores. Age-related changes in the anatomy and physiology of infants and children produce normal ranges for electrocardiogram features that differ from adults and vary with age. Bradycardia is defined as a heart rate below the lowest normal value for age.

The polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (PVT) is uncommon arrhythmia with multiple causes and has been classified according to whether they are associated with long QT interval or normal QT. Whereas "Torsade de pointes (TdP)" is an uncommon and distinctive form of PVT occurring in a setting of prolonged QT interval, which may be congenital or acquired (congenital or acquired), "PVT with normal QT" is associated with myocardial ischemia, electrolyte abnormalities (hypokalemia), mutations of the cardiac sodium channel (Brugada syndrome), and the ryanodine receptor (catecholaminergic PVT). This distinction is crucial because of the differing etiologies and management of these arrhythmias.

Introduction: Rapid arrhythmia originating within pulmonary veins (PVs) precipitates atrial fibrillation (AF) in man. To determine a possible basis for an increased incidence of AF observed peri-myocardial infarction in man, we compared AF induction in vivo and triggered arrhythmia formation within isolated PVs in vitro in normal dogs and dogs studied 24 hours postcoronary artery ligation.

Methods And Results: The incidence of AF initiated by atrial premature stimuli was increased in dogs postcoronary artery ligation (6/9) versus normal (2/12) (P = 0.
