In this article, we report on the alginate heterografted by Poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide-co-N-tert-butyl acrylamide) and Poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) (ALG-g-P(NIPAM86-co-NtBAM14)-g-PNIPAM) copolymer thermoresponsive hydrogel, reinforced by substituting part of the 5 wt% aqueous formulation by small amounts of Poly(acrylic acid)-g-P(boc-L-Lysine) (PAA-g-P(b-LL)) graft copolymer (up to 1 wt%). The resulting complex hydrogels were explored by oscillatory and steady-state shear rheology. The thermoresponsive profile of the formulations were affected remarkably by increasing the PAA-g-P(b-LL) component of the polymer blend.

Reactive carbonyl species (RCS) are important biomarkers of oxidative stress-related diseases because of their highly reactive electrophilic nature. Despite their potential as triggers for prodrug activation, selective labeling approaches for RCS remain limited. Here, we utilized triphenylphosphonium groups to chemoselectively capture RCS via an aqueous Wittig reaction, forming α,β-unsaturated carbonyls that enable further functionalization.

Over the past decade, plant-based milk alternatives (PBMAs) have gained increasing popularity. Several processing technologies, including heat treatment, are usually employed during their production in order to replicate the properties of cow's milk. These processes can trigger the Maillard reaction, producing Maillard reaction products (MRPs) and amino acid cross-links, which may alter the nutritional profile and digestibility of PBMAs.

This study evaluated the potential efficacy of eco-friendly biofabricated zinc oxide nanoparticles (GS-ZnONP) (10 mg/kg b.wt) to reduce the impacts of long-term oral acrylamide (ALD) exposure (20 mg/kg b.wt) on the blood cells, immune components, splenic oxidative status, and expression of CD20, CD3, CD4, CD8, TNF-α, caspase-3, microRNA-181a-5p, and microRNA-125-5p in rats in a 60-day experiment.

Acrylamide is formed at high temperature during preparation of food rich in carbohydrates. It can be found in animal feed based on potatoes and granulated wheat subjected to thermal treatment. It was demonstrated that acrylamide has a neurotoxic effect in newborn animals in both the central and peripheral nervous system after prenatal exposure to this substance.
