We present a fully dynamical simulation of central nuclear collisions around midrapidity at LHC energies. Unlike previous treatments, we simulate all phases of the collision, including the equilibration of the system. For the simulation, we use numerical relativity solutions to anti-de Sitter space/conformal field theory for the preequilibrium stage, viscous hydrodynamics for the plasma equilibrium stage, and kinetic theory for the low-density hadronic stage. Our preequilibrium stage provides initial conditions for hydrodynamics, resulting in sizable radial flow. The resulting light particle spectra reproduce the measurements from the ALICE experiment at all transverse momenta.

Crystalline pentacene is a model solid-state light-harvesting material because its quantum efficiencies exceed 100% via ultrafast singlet fission. The singlet fission mechanism in pentacene crystals is disputed due to insufficient electronic information in time-resolved experiments and intractable quantum mechanical calculations for simulating realistic crystal dynamics. Here we combine a multiscale multiconfigurational approach and machine learning photodynamics to understand competing singlet fission mechanisms in crystalline pentacene.

Up to now, studies on fully inertial (adding mass and moment of inertia) active Brownian particles (IABPs) have only considered a constant propulsion force. This work overcomes this by studying IABPs but with a time-dependent propulsion and analytically characterizes this system by finding its mean-square displacement and effective diffusion for any periodic time-dependent propulsion speed. To exemplify the periodic general expressions, three particular self-propulsion signals are addressed, expressly, a cosine, a square-wave, and a zig-zag propulsion force.

Navigating the demands of translational research requires not only addressing scientific issues, but also managing conflicting sociopolitical, cultural, psychosocial, epistemic, and ethical relationships across diverse communities and academic disciplines. Data and analysis of intensive interviews on these phenomena with researchers are presented here, which led to the co-design of a larger, ongoing study in a neuropsychiatric research community. The results generated a set of hypotheses-particularly regarding conflicts and challenges at the neuroscience-neuroethics interface as experienced by neuroscientists-which have not been fully articulated or examined in the neuroethics literature.
