Zinc is an important physiological cation, and its misregulation is implicated in various diseases. It is therefore important to be able to image zinc by non-invasive methods such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). In this work, we have successfully synthesized a novel Gd3+-based complex specifically for Zn2+ sensing by MRI.

In this work, we present an experimental approach for monitoring the temperature of submicrometric, real-time operating electrical circuits using luminescence thermometry. For this purpose, we utilized lanthanide-doped up-converting nanocrystals as nanoscale temperature probes, which, combined with a highly sensitive confocal photoluminescence microscope, enabled temperature monitoring with spatial resolution limited only by the diffraction of light. To validate our concept, we constructed a simple model of an electrical microcircuit based on a single silver nanowire with a diameter of approximately 100 nm and a length of about 50 µm, whose temperature increase was induced by electric current flow.

Chloride ions play vital roles in a variety of biological and environmental processes, making their accurate and efficient detection critical for both research and practical applications. In this perspective, we explore the recent advancements in the development of metal complex-based probes for chloride ion detection, with a focus on complexes involving transition and lanthanide metals. These probes offer remarkable selectivity and sensitivity, achieved through diverse mechanisms such as metal coordination, hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interactions, and halogen or chalcogen bonding.

Bovine serum albumin (BSA) is one of the most abundant proteins in serum, and its high-throughput detection is still one of the current challenges. Nitrogen‑phosphorus co-doped carbon dots (CDs) were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. Adenosine monophosphate (AMP) was used as a precursor for the synthesis of CDs, providing the required carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus sources for the CDs.

Drug repurposing refers to excavating clinically approved drugs for new clinical indications, effectively shortening the cost and time of clinical evaluation due to the established molecular structure, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. In this sense, clinically approved Prussian blue (PB) has received considerable attention, by virtue of its unique optical, magnetic, and enzymatic performance. Nevertheless, the clinical transformation of PB-based nanodrugs remains restricted owing to their complex synthetic formulation and constrained therapeutic performance.
