The aim of this study was to determine 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OH-dG) levels in trichloroethylene (TCE)-exposed workers. Oxidative stress biomarkers and biochemical parameters were monitored among 26 TCE-exposed workers and 78 age-matched control subjects. Levels of urinary 8-OH-dG were analyzed by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. Urinary 8-OH-dG levels were significantly higher for TCE-exposed group (p < .001). Spearman's correlation test revealed positive correlations between urinary trichloroacetic acid levels and age, urinary 8-OH-dG, urinary total oxidant status, and urinary total antioxidant status (p = .042, p < .001, p < .001, and p < .001, respectively). 8-OH-dG may be a useful marker to determine the extent of TCE exposure.

Objective: The pathogenesis of GDM and T2DM are closely related to various metals in vivo, and changes in the concentration of these metal exposures can lead to neuropathy through the DNA damage pathway caused by the accumulation of ROS.
Method: Urine samples were analyzed for heavy metals and trace elements by ICP-MS, neurotransmitter metabolites by HPLC, 8-OH-dG by HPLC-MS and metabolomics by UPLC-MS.
Result: Cd and Hg were risk factors for T2DM.

Nickel (Ni) is a common metal with a nephrotoxic effect, damaging the kidneys. This study investigated the mechanism by which gallic acid (GA) protects mice kidneys against renal damage induced by Nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO-NPs). Forty male Swiss albino mice were randomly assigned into four groups, each consisting of ten mice ( = 10/group): Group I the control group, received no treatment; Group II, the GA group, was administrated GA at a dosage of 110 mg/kg/day body weight; Group III, the NiO-NPs group, received injection of NiO-NPs at a concentration of 20 mg/kg body weight for 10 consecutive days; Group IV, the GA + NiO-NPs group, underwent treatment with both GA and NiO-NPs.

Occupational exposure to aromatic amines (AAs) is an important risk factor for urinary bladder cancer. This study aimed to evaluate the toxicity of AAs and analyze the carcinogenic mechanisms in rat bladder by comprehensive analysis of DNA adducts (DNA adductome). DNA was extracted from the bladder epithelia of rats treated with AAs, including acetoacet--toluidine (AAOT) and -toluidine (OTD), and adductome analysis was performed.

Air pollution is a leading risk factor for global mortality and morbidity. Oxidative stress is a key mechanism underlying air-pollution-mediated health effects, especially in the pathogenesis/exacerbation of airway impairments. However, evidence lacks on subgroups at higher risk of developing more severe outcomes in response to air pollution.

Alkylation reagents, represented by sulfur mustard (SM), can damage DNA molecules directly as well as lead to oxidative stress, causing DNA lesions indirectly. Correspondingly, two types of biomarkers including alkylated DNA adducts and oxidative DNA adducts are commonly involved in the research of DNA damage evaluation caused by these agents. However, the correlations and differences of the occurrence, duration, severity, and traceability between alkylation and oxidation lesions on the DNA molecular level reflected by these two types of biomarkers have not been systematically studied.
