Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases worldwide and is observed in both men and women. The presence of the virus is often associated with benign and malignant neoplasms of the oral cavity. We wished to investigate whether HPV infection in the genitalia was associated with HPV infection in the oral mucosa.
Methods: The prevalence of HPV in the oral cavity and genitalia was evaluated by DNA extraction from genital and oral cavity samples of 105 women, followed by nested PCR.
Results And Conclusions: The prevalence of HPV in the oral cavity was significantly higher in women who had genital HPV (P < 0.0001). Oral sex, alcohol, and tobacco consumption were not associated with the oral HPV infection.

Investigate the impact of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) using different photosensitizers (PSs) such as indocyanine green (IG), curcumin (CC), and methylene blue (MB), with or without intracanal application of calcium hydroxide (CH), on the push-out bond strength of glass-fiber posts (GFPs) to intraradicular dentin, the chemical composition of the root substrate, and the sealing of the adhesive interface across different thirds of intraradicular dentin. A total of 112 bovine teeth underwent biomechanical preparation and were divided into eight experimental groups (n = 14 each): Negative control with deionized water; positive control with deionized water + CH; IG group with indocyanine green and infrared laser; IG + CH group; CC group with curcumin and blue LED; CC + CH group; MB group with methylene blue and red laser; and MB + CH group. The push-out bond strength was measured using a universal testing machine (n = 8), and scanning electron microscopy characterized the fracture patterns.

The purpose of this study was to examine how low-energy LED red light influences the early to middle stage of osteogenic differentiation of periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) via the ERK5 signaling pathway. METHODS: PDLSCs were extracted from periodontal membrane tissue using enzymatic digestion. At three time points of 7, 10, and 14 days after irradiation with 5J/cm LED red light, the expression levels of early to middle-stage osteogenic-related genes ALP, Col-1, BSP, and OPN were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR(qRT-PCR) in both control and osteogenesis experimental groups.
