Twenty-four patients with colorectal carcinoma and one patient with a recurrent, transitional-cell, vesical tumor invading the rectum but not amenable to surgical resection underwent neodymium-YAG laser therapy. There were 16 men and nine women with an average age of 75.6 years (range, 35 to 93 years). There were 14, 6, 1, 1, and 3 tumors found in the rectum, rectosigmoid colon, transverse colon, descending colon, and ascending colon, respectively. Symptoms consisted of bleeding or partial obstruction. Twelve patients were high-risk surgical candidates, 11 patients had widespread disease, and two patients had another primary tumor not controlled by a previous surgical procedure. The tumor was eradicated in two patients. There were two complications, namely, a perforation and a rectovaginal fistula. Thirteen patients died from their disease. The remaining patients have been kept free from obstruction and bleeding.

A transversely isotropic diode-pumped solid-state laser is used to obtain an orthogonally dual-polarization nonplanar circular mode (NCM) under off-axis pumping in the strictly degenerate cavity. Each polarized component of the NCM outside the cavity is revealed to be individually localized on the ray orbits forming a nonplanar surface, in which the transverse patterns display multiple spots well positioned on a circular structure. An analytical representation is established to explore polarization-resolved components of the NCM by utilizing the Gaussian wave packet to directly correlate with geometrical rays.

With a compact Faraday rotation angle has been used in NPR mode-locked lasers, and we find that incomplete isolation of backward-propagating light does not hinder self-starting.

Background: We aimed to evaluate and compare the rise in the temperature for the safety of the kidney parenchyma on firing the Holmium: Yttrium Aluminium Garnet laser and the Thulium Fiber Laser during laser lithotripsy in humans.
Method: We included 30 pre-stented patients with renal calculi undergoing Retrograde intra-renal surgery. They were randomized into two groups - 15 patients underwent holmium laser lithotripsy and 15 patients underwent TFL laser lithotripsy.

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of different types of low level laser treatment (LLLT) in reducing pain levels, changing oxygen saturation and bite force in patients with myofacial pain syndrome (MPS). 45 patients were randomly assigned to three groups: Group 1 (GRR laser, n = 15) received LLLT with Gallium-Aluminium-Arsenide (GaAlAs) diode laser with a wavelength of 904 nm and red laser with a wavelength of 650 nm over masseter muscle region. Group 2 (Nd: YAG laser, n = 15) were treated with Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm and the same protocol with Nd: YAG laser was performed in the Group 3 (placebo, n = 15) using sham device.
