A new complex ([Cu(L1)2(H2O]2]⋅2H2O, 1) derived from a hetero N- and O-donor ligand 5-methyl-imidazole-3-carboxylic acid (L1H) has been synthesized and characterized. Comparisons between [Cu(L1)2(H2O]2]⋅2H2O, [Co(L2)(H2O]2⋅H2O (2), and [Cu(L2)2H2O]⋅H2O (L2H=5-methyl-isoxazole-3-carboxylic acid) revealed that the coordinated water molecules play a key role in the construction of crystal structures: two coordinated water molecules in the axial positions lead to single-deck 1D chain and 3D motif while one coordinated water molecule resulted to double-deck 1D chain and 2D stacking motif. Molecular Hirshfeld surfaces revealed that complexes 1 and 2 were supported mainly by H-H, C-H⋯π, and O-H⋯O intermolecular interactions. The room temperature solid state luminescent properties of complexes 1 and 2 were all shown as two distinct bands, which attribute to ligand-metal charge transfer and metal purterbed ligand centered emission.

Developing sensitive and reliable methods for detecting antibiotics in water solutions is essential for protecting public health and the environment. Here, we report a novel fluorescent film with superior mechanical properties and detection response to ciprofloxacin (CIP), achieved through the in-situ growth of europium-based metal-organic frameworks on TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibrils (TOCNF). Firstly, Eu(III) and 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (DPA) served as precursors, and a simple self-assembly strategy was employed to grow the composite film material (Eu-DPA@TOCNF) in situ on TOCNF, which exhibited characteristic emission peaks.

Phenolic compounds are prevalent in domestic and industrial effluents, leading a serious environmental hazard. Paper-based analysis device mediated by nanozymes has shown great potential in portable visual determination of phenolic compounds in the environment. In this work, we used nicotinic acid derivatives such as pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, 2-methylnicotinic acid and 2-aminonicotinic acid by coordinating copper (II) acetate monohydrate coordination to obtain Cu2-COOHNA, Cu2-CHNA, Cu2-ANA nanozymes with laccase-activity.

Metal single atoms are of increasing importance in catalytic reactions. However, the mass diffusion is yet substantially limited by the confined surface of the support in comparison to homogeneous catalysis. Here, we demonstrate that cylindrical micellar brushes with highly solvated poly(2-vinylpyridine) coronas can immobilize 33 types of metal single atoms with 8.

In this work, we have explored the metal ion sensing properties of two bisbenzimidazole-based fluorescent probes, that differ in their conformational flexibility, in an aqueous medium. The compound with a flexible methyl spacer (1) experienced blue shifts in its absorption and emission maxima (along with a turn-off response) upon the addition of Hg ions. On the contrary, the compound with a relatively rigid structure (2) showed red shifts in both its absorption and emission maxima (along with a turn-off response) when treated with Hg under similar conditions.

Background: Dosimetric commissioning and quality assurance (QA) for linear accelerators (LINACs) present a significant challenge for clinical physicists due to the high measurement workload and stringent precision standards. This challenge is exacerbated for radiosurgery LINACs because of increased measurement uncertainty and more demanding setup accuracy for small-field beams. Optimizing physicists' effort during beam measurements while ensuring the quality of the measured data is crucial for clinical efficiency and patient safety.
