Background And Objective: The nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) consists of a group of transcription factors of which its dysregulation is responsible for diseases such as inflammation and cancer. Ubiquitin-specific proteases (USPs) are the most prominent group among the deubiquitinases (DUBs). Their functions include control of protein stability and regulation of signaling transduction.

Proteins are the keystone for the execution of various life activities, and the maintenance of protein normalization is crucial for organisms. Ubiquitination, as a post-transcriptional modification, is widely present in organisms, and it relies on the sophisticated ubiquitin-proteasome (UPS) system that controls protein quality and modulates protein lifespan. Deubiquitinases (DUBs) counteract ubiquitination and are essential for the maintenance of homeostasis.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common progressive neurodegenerative disease. The Ubiquitin-Protease system (UPS), which plays important roles in maintaining protein homeostasis in eukaryotic cells, is involved in the development of AD. This study sought to identify differential UPS-related genes (UPGs) in AD patients by using bioinformatic methods, reveal potential biomarkers for early detection of AD, and investigate the association between the identified biomarkers and immune cell infiltration in AD.

Relatively low-grade inflammatory of osteoarthritic joints is characterized by synovitis and a catabolic and proinflammatory state of the chondrocytes and plays an important role in osteoarthritis (OA) initiation and exacerbation. Our previous research showed cardiac glycoside compounds might be effective in OA synovitis. However, the effect of digoxin (DIG), an FDA-approved cardenolide, on inflammation inhibition of osteoarthritic joints has not been investigated.

In order to enrich the knowledge of chicken transcriptomic response to Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis infection, 2-day-old chicks were orally inoculated with this bacteria (1.0 × 10 cfu/mL), and then the cecum tissues of 3 days post-inoculation were utilized for RNA sequencing (6 replicates each for treatment group and control group). After analysis, we found a variety of inflammatory genes were triggered at the mRNA level upon infection.
