Blue luminogens play a vital role in white lighting and potential metal-free fluorescent materials and their high-lying excited states contribute to harvesting triplet excitons in devices. However, in TADF-OLEDs (Δ < 0.1 eV), although T excitons transfer to S RISC with 100% IQE, the longer lifetime of blue TADF suffers from efficiency roll-off (RO).

Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have garnered considerable attention in academic and industrial circles due to their potential applications in flat-panel displays and solid-state lighting technologies, leveraging the advantages offered by organic electroactive derivatives over their inorganic counterparts. The thin and flexible design of OLEDs enables the development of innovative lighting solutions, facilitating the creation of customizable and contoured lighting panels. Among the diverse electroactive components employed in the molecular design of OLED materials, the benzophenone core has attracted much attention as a fragment for the synthesis of organic semiconductors.

Developing luminogens with a high emission efficiency in both single-molecule and aggregate states, as well as high mobility, shows promise for advancing the iteration and update of organic optoelectronic materials. However, achieving a delicate balance between the plane configuration of luminophores and the strong exciton interactions of aggregates is a formidable task from the molecular design perspective. This dilemma was overcome by integrating a rigid donor and flexible acceptor to establish donor-acceptor (D-A) type emitters.

A novel heavy metal-free and safe synthetic methodology enabling one-step conversion of ketones into corresponding 4,5,6,7-tetrafluorobenzofurans (F BFs) has been developed. The presented approach has numerous advantageous qualities, including utilization of readily available substrates, broad scope, scalability, and good reaction yields. Importantly, some of the benzofurans prepared by this method were heretofore inaccessible by any other known transformation.

A DC voltage-dependent color-tunable organic light-emitting diode (CTOLED) was proposed for lighting applications. The CTOLED consists of six consecutive organic layers: the hole injection layer, the hole transport layer (HTL), two emission layers (EMLs), a hole blocking layer (HBL), and an electron transport layer (ETL). Only one metal-free phthalocyanine (HPc) layer with a thickness of 5 nm was employed as the EML in the CTOLED on a green organic light-emitting diode (OLED) structure using tris (8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (III) (Alq).
