Objective: We examined the role of myofibroblasts in regulating Cx43 and collagen structure in iatrogenic preterm amniotic membrane (AM) defects subjected to mechanical stimulation.
Method: Preterm AM specimens were collected from women undergoing planned preterm caesarean section after in utero intervention for correction of spina bifida by open fetal surgery (n = 4 patients; preterm delivery at 34 + 0 weeks to 35 + 0 weeks). Control specimens taken 5 cm away from the open fetal surgery defect site were compared with wound edge AM.

The integrity of the reconstructed human epidermis generated in vitro can be assessed using histological analyses combined with immunohistochemical staining of keratinocyte differentiation markers. Technical differences during the preparation and capture of stained images may influence the outcome of computational methods. Due to the specific nature of the analyzed material, no annotated datasets or dedicated methods are publicly available.

The Hematoxylin and Eosin stain is a cornerstone in histopathology that facilitates the microscopic examination of tissue samples for identifying infections and tumors. However, challenges arise from the similar appearances of diseases and cells, prompting the emergence of Immunohistochemistry (IHC) as an important technique. This review summarizes the principles, procedures, and applications and future perspectives of IHC, a prevalent immunostaining method allowing the detection of specific proteins in tissue sections.

Background: This study follows an initial scientific validation linking sodium ascorbate (SAC) with elastin conservation and the clinical trial histology observation that the full formulation tested there stimulated elastin development. In an effort to explain the increased elastin response, a candidate was sought that may provide synergy to SAC during elastin stimulation. Lactoferrin was the constituent chosen to explore in this realm.
