Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) activity was present in roots and shoots of 48-h rice embryos and rose in response to anoxia. The increase was accompanied by changes in the ADH isozyme pattern. Translatable levels of mRNA for two ADH peptides increases as early as 1 h after the beginning of anoxic treatment. Adh mRNA was detected in aerobically grown rice embryos by hybridization to maize Adh1 cDNA: its level increased significantly after 3 h of anoxia.

Background: RNA m6A methylation installed by RNA methyltransferases plays a crucial role in regulating plant growth and development and environmental stress responses. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of m6A methylation involved in seed germination and stress responses are largely unknown. In the present study, we surveyed global m6A methylation in rice seed germination under salt stress and the control (no stress) using an osmta1 mutant and its wild type.

Germinated whole seeds possess elevated levels of bioactive nutrients; however, their application is hindered by several constraints. The germination process is typically time-consuming, and germinated seeds present challenges in terms of storage and transportation compared to dry seeds. This study introduces a novel processing method for rice, termed prolonged priming (PLP), aiming to combine the benefits of germinated and dry seeds.

: BABY BOOM (BBM), a transcription factor from the APETALA2 (AP2) protein family, plays a critical role in somatic embryo induction and apomixis. has now been widely applied to induce apomixis or enhance plant transformation and regeneration efficiency through overexpression or ectopic expression. However, the structural and functional evolutionary history of genes in plants is still not well understood.

Heat stress poses a significant challenge for maize production, especially during the spring when high temperatures disrupt cellular processes, impeding plant growth and development. The B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) associated athanogene (BAG) gene family is known to be relatively conserved across various species. It plays a crucial role as molecular chaperone cofactors that are responsible for programmed cell death and tumorigenesis.
