Pursuing a target by wheel-legged mobile robot using NMPC while optimizing obstacles passing.

ISA Trans

December 2024

Robotic Research Laboratory, Centre of Excellence in Experimental Solid Mechanics and Dynamics, School of Mechanical Engineering, Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran 16846-13114, Iran.

In this paper, trajectory tracking control as the pursuit of a specific target by wheel-legged mobile robots (WLMRs) in an environment with the presence of obstacles is presented. These types of robots are designed to navigate different paths such as slippery trajectories, paths with obstacles, and other challenging paths. In addition, the robot can move its legs in different surface conditions and operate more flexibly with the help of wheels attached to the legs.

Our research examines the learning curves of various minimally invasive lumbar surgeries to determine the benefits and challenges they pose to both surgeons and patients. The advent of microsurgical techniques since the 1960s, including advances in fluoroscopic navigation and intraoperative computed tomography, has significantly shifted spinal surgery from open to minimally invasive methods. This study critically evaluates surgical duration, intraoperative conversions to open surgery, and complications as primary parameters to gauge these learning curves.

Objective: This scoping review seeks to identify what is known about the role of liaisons who support two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, and asexual (2SLGBTQIA+) people receiving care in health-service settings, and specifically, how the 2SLGBTQIA+ liaison role is defined and characterized.

Introduction: To mitigate the stigma and discrimination experienced by 2SLGBTQIA+ people in health-service settings, a 2SLBGTQIA+ liaison position was initiated at a Canadian hospital. A comprehensive understanding of the 2SLGBTQIA+ liaison role is integral to the implementation of 2SLGBTQIA+ liaison positions in health-service settings globally.

Amidst growing international pressure for institutions that collect biological material to comply with the Nagoya Protocol, scientific gatekeepers such as herbaria, funding bodies, and academic journals increasingly request proof of Nagoya Protocol compliance. What happens when research is conducted in a country which does not have a comprehensive regulatory framework implementing the Nagoya Protocol? This article addresses this question through an examination of the difficulties that genetic resource collectors and biobankers may encounter in attempting to voluntarily comply with the Nagoya Protocol in Australia, a country that has not ratified the Nagoya Protocol at a federal level. It summarizes the requirements of the Nagoya Protocol, surveys the legal and regulatory situation that currently exists in Australia, and outlines the difficulties and ambiguities encountered by scientists and biobankers in attempting to navigate this system.

Uncertain choices with asymmetric information: how clear evidence and ambiguity interact?

Front Psychol

December 2024

Control and Intelligent Processing Centre of Excellence, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran.

Real-world decisions often involve partial ambiguity, where the complete picture of potential risks is unclear. In such situations, individuals must make choices by balancing the value of available information against the uncertainty of unknown risks. Our study investigates this challenge by examining how people navigate the trade-off between the favorability of limited evidence and the degree of ambiguity when making decisions under partial ambiguity.
