We present the cases of two patients with hypothermia, with a detailed description of electrocardiographic changes associated with hypothermia. In both cases, J wave was initially misdiagnosed as left bundle branch block (LBBB). We discuss the differentiation of J wave from LBBB.

Background: Therapeutic hypothermia (TH) is the standard treatment for moderate to severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) in developed countries, but data on its safety and efficacy in low-middle-income countries are limited and often conflicting. The impact of enteral feeding during TH remains inadequately explored. We aimed to examine TH's effects on mortality and brain injury and evaluate the safety and effectiveness of minimal enteral feeding during TH.

Aim: This study aimed to protect brain functions in patients who experienced in-hospital cardiac arrest through the application of local cerebral hypothermia. By utilizing a specialized thermal hypothermia device, this approach sought to mitigate ischemic brain injury associated with post-cardiac arrest syndrome, enhance survival rates, and improve neurological outcomes as measured by standardized scales.
Methods: A prospective, single-center cohort study was conducted involving patients aged ≥18 years who experienced in-hospital cardiac arrest and achieved return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC).

Wischnewsky spots are disseminated, dark lesions in gastric mucosa reflecting hemorrhage associated with fatal hypothermia, and are a phenomenon well known to forensic pathologists. We applied luminol and leucomalachite green tests to formalin-fixed gastric mucosa with Wischnewsky spots in autopsy cases of hypothermia. Both luminol and leucomalachite green tests showed positive reactions.

Purpose: Spine surgery, particularly deformity correction, is associated with a high risk of peri-operative or post-operative complications, and these complications can lead to catastrophic consequences. This case report will present the etiology and treatment process of the peri-operative cardiac arrest during scoliosis correction surgery.
Method: In this report, we present a case of cardiac arrest during posterior correction surgery in a 17-year-old female patient with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

Trauma care prioritizes life-threatening conditions using the ABCDE algorithm based on the principle "treat first what kills first". As for catastrophic hemorrhage, a leading preventable cause of death in trauma, modifications of this algorithm are necessary in specific cases. In cold climates, life-threatening hypothermia poses additional challenges.
