Objective: The aim of the study is to evaluate the usage of Dieffenbach's modification of Weber-Fergusons approach in the treatment of lesions involving maxilla.
Study: In this study five different maxillary pathologies were approached through Dieffenbach's modification of Weber-Fergusons approach. Partial and subtotal procedures were performed depending on the type of pathology and the extent of the lesion which was assessed both clinically and radiologically. The study evaluates the easy exposure of the site, post operative complications like scar formation and infra orbital nerve parasthesia.
Results: There were two subtotal maxillectomy procedures and three partial maxillectomy procedures approached through Dieffenbach's modification of Weber-Fergusson's approach. All the cases recovered well in the post operative healing period without noticeable scarring. There was parasthesia in three cases which subsided in 3 months.
Conclusion: The approach through Dieffenbach's modification of Weber-Fergusons incision gave better visibility and accessibility to the lesions of maxilla. Because there is direct access to the pathology, the inadvertent resection of the un-involved structures is prevented thus minimizing the morbidity.

Background: Reconstruction of the helical upper-third is often technically demanding, especially when the defect is huge and the ear is severely deformed. The aim of this short communication was to present an alternative technique to rebuild this difficult task, using a modification of the Bardach's three-legged rotation flap for scalp closure.
Methods: To achieve the flap design, we raised the retro- and supraauricular tissue with the Dieffenbach's postauricular advancement fl ap.

Introduction: A generous exposure of the midface region is essential for a comprehensive and thorough execution of midface surgical procedures, especially bilateral procedures. Traditional approaches to the midface the midface like the lateral rhinotomy and Weber-Fergusson/Dieffenbach incision with their modifications leave a visible scar, and they are limited in their unilateral exposure. The midface degloving approach with its exclusive intranasal and intraoral incisions leaves no external scars and lends excellent bilateral exposure of the maxilla, zygoma, paranasal areas and infraorbital margins from one side to the other.

Germline mutations involving small mothers against decapentaplegic-transforming growth factor-β (SMAD-TGF-β) signaling are an important but rare cause of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), which is a disease characterized, in part, by vascular fibrosis and hyperaldosteronism (ALDO). We developed and analyzed a fibrosis protein-protein network (fibrosome) in silico, which predicted that the SMAD3 target neural precursor cell expressed developmentally down-regulated 9 (NEDD9) is a critical ALDO-regulated node underpinning pathogenic vascular fibrosis. Bioinformatics and microscale thermophoresis demonstrated that oxidation of Cys in the SMAD3 docking region of NEDD9 impairs SMAD3-NEDD9 protein-protein interactions in vitro.

Introduction: We have previously shown that a tag single nucleotide polymorphism (rs10235235), which maps to the CYP3A locus (7q22.1), was associated with a reduction in premenopausal urinary estrone glucuronide levels and a modest reduction in risk of breast cancer in women age ≤50 years.
Methods: We further investigated the association of rs10235235 with breast cancer risk in a large case control study of 47,346 cases and 47,570 controls from 52 studies participating in the Breast Cancer Association Consortium.
