Our aim was to explore anti-cell proliferative and anti-angiogenic potential of andrographolide by analyzing the expression pattern of cell proliferative (PCNA, Cyclin D1) and angiogenic (VEGF) markers during 7, 12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA) induced hamster buccal pouch carcinogenesis. DMBA painting three times a week for 14 weeks in the buccal pouch of golden Syrian hamsters resulted in oral tumors which were histopathologically diagnosed as well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. Immunohistochemical (PCNA, VEGF) and RT-PCR (Cyclin D1) studies revealed over expression of PCNA, VEGF and Cyclin D1 in the buccal mucosa of hamsters treated with DMBA alone. Oral administration of andrographolide at a dose of 50 mg/kg bw to hamsters treated with DMBA not only suppressed the histological abnormalities but also down regulated the expression of PCNA, VEGF and Cyclin D1. The results of the present study suggest that andrographolide suppressed tumor formation in the buccal mucosa of hamsters treated with DMBA through its anti-cell proliferative and anti-angiogenic potential.

The goal of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial and cytotoxic effects of both the and plant part extracts of the medicinal plant . An effective protocol for regeneration and callus formation was developed using nodal segments and regenerated leaf explants, respectively. The highest fresh and dry weight calli were produced after four weeks of culture on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing 2.

Three-dimensional (3D) cell culture systems provide more physiologically relevant information, representing more accurately the actual microenvironment where cells reside in tissues. However, the differences between the tissue culture plate (TCP) and 3D culture systems in terms of tumour cell growth, proliferation, migration, differentiation and response to the treatment have not been fully elucidated. Tumoroid microspheres containing the MDA-MB 231 breast cancer cell line were prepared using either tunable PEG-fibrinogen (PFs) or tunable PEG-silk fibroin (PSFs) hydrogels, respectively named MDAPFs and MDAPSFs.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), a global threatening disease, is reported mostly in the middle and elderly male population. Even though the exact cause of OSCC was not known, consumption of tobacco in any form has been reported in most of OSCC patients. OSCC is a massive invasive type of cancer which easily spreads to the distant organs.

The genus constitutes cold-adapted plant spp., of these some are traditionally used in folk medicine against inflammation or fungal infections without scientific validations. Here, we report the biological activities of total ethanol-extract (CF-EtOH) and its hexane (CF-Hex), ethyl acetate (CF-EtOA), butanol (CF-ButOH), and aqueous (CF-Aqua) fractions.

The present study focuses on the interconnected functional network of altered metabolism and EMT (epithelial to mesenchymal transition) signaling in breast cancer. We have interlinked the metabolic and EMT signaling circuits and selected Insulin receptor (IR), Integrin beta 1 (ITGB1), and CD36 as target proteins based on network analysis. Extensive computational approaches discerned the potential drug molecules from the library of 1293 FDA-approved drugs to block all three target proteins.
