8 children with chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura received a high dose therapy with monomeric IgG. Before and after the treatment immunological investigations were carried out. All the children showed a positive clinical response, in 5 children there was an increase of thrombocytes to 111-340 X 10(9)/l. A clinico-haematological effect could be shown in those children with an increased percentage of marrow megakaryocytes with IgG fixed on the membrane before treatment. There was no haematological effect neither in cases with fixed IgG and IgA nor IgM and IgA combined, as well as in the case when there was no fixed IgG on the membrane. A steady clinical effect was provided if the number of bone marrow megakaryocytes with fixed IgG reached the norm. The suppression of the synthesis of antithrombocytic antibodies of the same immunoglobulin class can be regarded as a specific mechanism of high IgG doses.

Background: SARS-CoV-2 transmission and COVID-19 disease severity is influenced by immunity from natural infection and/or vaccination. Population-level immunity is complicated by the emergence of viral variants. Antibody Fc-dependent effector functions are as important mediators in immunity.

Objectives: The 2023 ACR/EULAR antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) classification criteria distinguish between anticardiolipin (aCL) or anti-β2-glycoprotein I (aβ2GPI) IgG vs IgM isotypes, having isolate IgM positivity a low weight, insufficient for APS classification, and define aCL and aβ2GPI thresholds based on fixed cut-off values. We aimed to assess the performance of the 2023 ACR/EULAR criteria in a cohort of primary vascular APS patients (PAPS), previously classified according to the Sydney criteria. Additionally, we evaluated the risk of thrombotic recurrence in patients re-classified or not according to the new criteria.

Multi-parous Holstein cows exposed to short day photoperiod (SDPP) of 8 h of light per day during their dry period produced up to 3.2 kg more milk per day compared with cows exposed to long day photoperiod (LDPP) of 16 h of light per day; it is unknown if a similar response would be observed for Jersey cow milk production. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of photoperiod during the dry period on subsequent colostrum and milk production in Holstein and Jersey cattle.

Immunohistochemical staining (IHC) enables the visualization of protein localization within tissues and organs. Here, we describe IHC to detect the ORYZA SATIVA HOMEOBOX1 (OSH1) protein in sections of rice shoot apical meristems (SAMs). First, anti-OSH1 IgG is purified from OSH1 polyclonal rabbit antisera.
