Thromboembolic events are among the most serious, yet rare complications of nephrotic syndrome. While peripheral venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism are the most common, superior mesenteric artery thrombosis is a rare but life-threatening occurrence. We present a case of severe cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection complicated by congenital nephrotic syndrome, leading to mesenteric ischemia.

Background: Both genetic and environmental factors contribute to the development of restless legs syndrome (RLS). Epigenetic mechanisms might play a vital role in RLS but remain underexplored. MDGA1, involved in synaptic inhibition, has been identified by genome-wide association studies as a potential risk gene for RLS.

Background: Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) are characterized by chronic inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and muscle tissue mitochondrial defect, leading to the local oxidative stress response. However, data on its systemic intensity and correlation with IIM clinical and laboratory characteristics remains scarce.
Methods: In clinically stable dermatomyositis (n = 18) and myositis (n = 38) patients and matched controls (n = 50), we measured global oxidative stress response in peripheral blood using a novel coumarin boronic acid (CBA) assay enabling real-time detection of protein hydroperoxides (HP) formed in serum.

Background And Hypothesis: Primary focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is characterized by podocyte injury and treatment-resistant nephrotic syndrome. Recurrence of the original disease after kidney transplantation (rFSGS) occurs in 10-50% of patients. Unidentified circulating permeability factors (CPF) are likely involved in FSGS pathogenesis.
