Published: August 1976

Dopamine-β-hydroxylase has been purified from human serum. The amino acid composition has been determined and found to be similar to that of the enzyme purified from human pheochromocytoma. Human serum dopamine-β-hydroxylase is a glycoprotein, containing 13.11 g carbohydrates/100 g protein. Individual sugar determinations showed the presence of fucose, galactose, glucose, mannose,N-acetylglucosamine,N-acetylgalactosamine andN-acetylneuraminic acid.

Importance: This study addresses the characteristics, kidney replacement therapy (KRT) modalities, and outcomes in children diagnosed with crush syndrome following an earthquake in Turkey.

Objective: To analyze the associations of different KRT modalities with long-term dialysis dependency and length of stay (LOS) in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).

Design, Setting, And Participants: This multicenter, prospective, and retrospective cohort study was conducted across 20 PICUs in Turkey.

Objective: To investigate the synergistic effects of combined sleep interventions and enhanced nutritional support on postoperative recovery in colon cancer patients, with a focus on sleep quality, nutritional status, pain management, psychological well-being, and quality of life.

Methods: This randomized controlled trial included 290 postoperative colon cancer patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University between May 2021 and May 2023. Participants were randomized into two groups: the intervention group, which received standard care supplemented with sleep and nutritional interventions, and the control group, which received standard care alone.

Exploring Biophysical and Chemoinformatics Approaches for Interactions of Ionic Liquids with Hemoglobin, DNA, BSA, and HSA.

Chem Biodivers

January 2025

SRM Institute of Science and Technology - NCR Campus, chemistry, Department of Chemistry, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Delhi NCR Camp, India, 241405, Modinagar, INDIA.

This review paper provides an inclusive overview of the intricate interactions amid ionic liquids (ILs) and essential biomacromolecules, mainly Hemoglobin (Hb), Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA), Human Serum Albumin (HSA), and Calf Thymus-DNA (CT-DNA). ILs have recently become a topic of great attention because of their inimitable physicochemical properties and potential uses in different fields. The review systematically explores the binding mechanisms, thermodynamics, and structural changes induced by ILs on Hb, BSA, HSA, and CT-DNA using spectroscopic, thermodynamic, and computational techniques.

Calcineurin inhibitors have been the choice for maintenance immunosuppression (IS) in kidney transplant recipients (KTR), but they are associated with nephrotoxicity and metabolic side effects. We aim to compare the long-term outcomes of KTR on belatacept (bela) versus tacrolimus (tac) IS, in all KTRs and various subgroups. Using the UNOS-STAR files, we identified adult first-KTR from 2010 to 2022.

Outcomes of Liver Transplant for Hepatic Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma.

Clin Transplant

February 2025

Division of Transplantation Surgery, Department of Surgery, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

Introduction: Hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HEH) is a rare indication of liver transplant with limited evidence.

Methods: Adult recipients undergoing first-time liver-only transplant from 2002 to 2021 in the United States were identified using the UNOS/OPTN database. We compared post-transplant outcomes of recipients receiving liver transplant for HEH versus other diagnoses.
