Total arterial ischaemia is rarely seen following a dislocated ankle fracture but if it does and intervention is not made, it can lead to serious morbidity. We present a 39-year-old woman with almost total occlusion in the arteria tibialis and arteria dorsalis pedis following a dislocated ankle fracture as a result of a bicycle fall.

Clinical radiologists play a critical role in facilitating the processing of imaging to provide adequate image reformats in the desired planes, producing 3 dimensional images but most crucially identifying pertinent findings, which will contribute between the selection of nonoperative and operative management and potentially influence surgical technique.

Background: Schatzker type-4 to 6 tibial plateau fractures most commonly occur when the distal femur is driven through the proximal tibial articular surface. This mechanism of injury can be equivalent to a knee dislocation and carries an increased risk of vascular injury. Our institution screens all Schatzker type-4 to 6 tibial plateau fractures with symmetric pulses for a vascular injury by measuring the ankle-brachial index (ABI).

Background: Temporary ankle-spanning circular fixation aims to provide osseous stability while (1) allowing access to and recovery of the traumatized soft-tissue envelope and (2) facilitating safe, comfortable, and clinically relevant cross-sectional imaging for surgical planning. It is most commonly utilized in a "span-scan-plan" treatment strategy in cases of peri-articular fractures around the ankle. Conventional monolateral fixators are prone to morbidity at the half-pin sites in the foot and variation in construct stability.
