Purpose: The learning environment at Xavier University School of Medicine (XUSOM), Aruba has not been previously studied. Hence, the present study was carried out using the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) to obtain student perceptions about the learning environment and compare the same among different subgroups of respondents.
Methods: The questionnaire was administered to undergraduate medical students in their first to fifth semester during the first two weeks of June 2013. The students' perceptions were evaluated by noting their degree of agreement with a set of 50 statements using a Likert-type scale. The mean overall score and the scores of subcategory were calculated and compared among different respondents (P<0.05).
Results: Seventy-three of the 86 students (84.9%) completed the questionnaire. The overall mean±SD score was 131.79±22.86 (maximum score 200). The mean±SD score for students' perception of teaching/learning was 31.99±6.23 (maximum score, 48), while the score for students' perceptions of teachers was 30.05±5.54 (maximum score, 44). The mean±SD scores for students' academic self-perception, students' perception of the atmosphere, and students' social self-perception were 21.88±5.11 (maximum score, 32), 30.92±8.59 (maximum score, 48), and 16.96±4.71 (maximum score, 28), respectively. There were no differences in scores according to the respondents' personal characteristics.
Conclusion: The student responses about the learning environment at the institution were positive. We plan to obtain regular student feedback as the curriculum becomes progressively more student-centered and integrated.

Objectives: to develop a mobile application for first aid to children, designed for use by basic education professionals.
Methods: we carried out this applied research in three phases: 1-integrative review, 2- identification of learning needs through a cross-sectional study with 53 school professionals, and 3- app development.
Results: the Child and Care (Criança e Cuidado) app includes three main sections (Important contacts, Learn first aid, and Record the accident).

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations outlines 17 goals for countries of the world to address global challenges in their development. However, the progress of countries towards these goal has been slower than expected and, consequently, there is a need to investigate the reasons behind this fact. In this study, we have used a novel data-driven methodology to analyze time-series data for over 20 years (2000-2022) from 107 countries using unsupervised machine learning (ML) techniques.

The rising popularity of 360-degree images and virtual reality (VR) has spurred a growing interest among creators in producing visually appealing content through effective color grading processes. Although existing computational approaches have simplified the global color adjustment for entire images with Preferential Bayesian Optimization (PBO), they neglect local colors for points of interest and are not optimized for the immersive nature of VR. In response, we propose a dual-level PBO framework that integrates global and local color adjustments tailored for VR environments.

In Augmented Reality (AR), virtual content enhances user experience by providing additional information. However, improperly positioned or designed virtual content can be detrimental to task performance, as it can impair users' ability to accurately interpret real-world information. In this paper we examine two types of task-detrimental virtual content: obstruction attacks, in which virtual content prevents users from seeing real-world objects, and information manipulation attacks, in which virtual content interferes with users' ability to accurately interpret real-world information.

Purpose: To describe the experiences of parents who used powered mobility in children with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, SMA type I,at an early age in the natural context like a family-centered program, using inductive qualitative content analysis.
Materials And Methods: This qualitative study was embedded within a single-blinded randomized waiting list controlled clinical trial, which involved 16 children with SMA type I. This study specifically explores the experiences of the 9 parents whose children participated in the intervention group and completed the training.
