Negative priming and stimulus-response compatibility.

Published: December 1996

The subjects in this study made incongruent naming responses to words and pictures that were presented on alternate trials (e.g., say "car" toBIKE). Their response time was longer if the correct response for the current trial was the name of the stimulus presented on the preceding trial, as compared with a control condition. These results suggest that the tendency to produce the (congruent) name of the stimulus is automatically activated and then inhibited. The "negative priming" effects appeared stronger for words where pictures were primes than for pictures where words were primes. The implications of these results for negative priming and stimulus-response compatibility are discussed.

Background: Improved diagnostic testing (DT) of infections may optimize outcomes for solid organ transplant recipients (SOTR), but a comprehensive analysis is lacking.

Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review across multiple databases, including EMBASE and MEDLINE(R), of studies published between 1 January 2012-11 June 2022, to examine the evidence behind DT in SOTR. Eligibility criteria included the use of conventional diagnostic methods (culture, biomarkers, directed-polymerase chain reaction [PCR]) or advanced molecular diagnostics (broad-range PCR, metagenomics) to diagnose infections in hospitalized SOTR.

Racine IVF Unit, Fertility Institute, Lis Maternity Hospital, Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, Tel Aviv, Israel affiliated to the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel.

Objective: To compare the number and outcomes of elective fertility preservation (FP) before and after the Covid-19 outbreak.

Methods: This retrospective study of 574 women who underwent elective FP between 01/2017-12/2021 included 123 women who underwent the procedure before and 451 who underwent it after the Covid-19 outbreak. The change in the number of women who underwent the procedure each month before and after the pandemic was calculated.

Introduction: Although tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are effective against NSCLC harboring sensitizing gene mutations, acquired resistance is inevitable. Preclinical studies suggest that combining EGFR TKI and monoclonal antibody therapies may have activity in mutated NSCLC that has progressed on TKI therapy alone. Therefore, we prospectively evaluated afatinib plus necitumumab in patients with mutated NSCLC.

Androgen-indifferent prostate cancer (AIPC) is increasingly common and particularly lethal. Data describing these tumors are sparse, and AIPC remains a poorly understood malignancy. Utilizing the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN) database, we enriched for tumors with features of AIPC using previously described characteristics.
