Introduction: Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), also known as scatter factor, and its receptor c-Met have been shown to be implicated in endometriosis. HGF acts as a mitogen, motogen, and morphogen on endometrial epithelial cells. The expression of c-Met on human endometrial cells has been reported. Many proteins are proteolytically released from the surface by a process known as ectodomain shedding. The aim of this study was to determine the levels of soluble c-Met (s-cMet) in the peritoneal fluid (PF) and serum samples of patients with different stages of endometriosis.

Material And Methods: 39 PF and serum samples from normal healthy and 130 samples from different stages of patients with endometriosis (33 cases of stage I, 38 stage II, 30 stage III and 29 stage IV) were included in this study. Total protein concentration (TPC) and the level of s-cMet in the PF and serum were determined by Bio-Rad protein assay based on the Bradford dye procedure and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, respectively.

Results: No significant change in the TPC was seen in the serum and PF of patients with endometriosis when compared with normal controls. Results obtained demonstrated that all PF and serum samples presented s-cMet expression, whereas, starting from stages I to IV endometriosis, a significant increase of s-cMet expression was observed as compared to controls.

Conclusion: The results of this study show that a high expression of s-cMet is correlated with advanced stages of endometriosis. It is also concluded that the detection of serum and PF s-cMet may be useful in classifying endometriosis.

Mares with endometrosis exhibit histological changes not only in the endometrium but also in the myometrium that suggest possible functional impairment. The molecular background of these changes is not well understood. We hypothesize that the transcriptomic profile of the mare myometrium varies depending on the degree of endometrosis in mares.

Dietary factors have recently been recognized as potentially influential in the pathogenesis of endometriosis (EM), yet studies on the causal relationship between dietary preferences and EM are limited. The present study aimed to explore the causal relationships between 187 dietary preferences and EM using Mendelian randomization (MR) methods. This study utilised genome-wide association study data from over 500,000 European participants for dietary preferences and 64,658 EM patients from Finland.

Background: Endometriosis, a prevalent chronic gynecological condition, is frequently associated with infertility and pelvic pain. Despite numerous studies indicating a correlation between epigenetic regulation and endometriosis, its precise genetic etiology remains elusive. Methyltransferase-like 14 (METTL14), a crucial component of the N6-methyladenosine (mA) RNA methyltransferase complex and an RNA binding scaffold, is known to play a pivotal role in various human diseases.

December 2024

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Reproductive Health Research Centre, Alzahra Hospital, School of Medicine, Guilan University of Medical Sciences, Rasht, Iran.

Background: An increasing number of studies have demonstrated that excessive proliferation and apoptosis play a pivotal role in the development of endometriosis.

Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the expression of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) FAS-AS1, FAS, soluble Fas (sFas) and caspase-3 in patients with different stages of endometriosis.

Setting And Design: The design of the study was a cross-sectional study.

Objective: To investigate the factors influencing recurrence following laparoscopic conservative surgery in patients with ovarian endometriosis (OEM) and to develop a predictive model.

Methods: In this retrospective study, the clinical data from 212 OEM patients who underwent laparoscopic conservative surgery at Suzhou Ninth People's Hospital from May 2013 to December 2021 were meticulously reviewed. According to disease recurrence over a 2-year follow-up period, the patients were divided into a recurrence group and a non-recurrence group.
