Giant salvinia (Salvinia molesta) is one of the most noxious invasive species in the world. Our bioactivity-guided fractionation of ethanol extract of giant salvinia led to the isolation of 50 compounds. Of the six new compounds (1-6), salviniol (1) is a rare abietane diterpene with a new ferruginol-menthol coupled skeleton and both salviniside I (2) and salviniside II (3) are novel benzofuran glucose conjugates with unique 10-membered macrodiolide structures. Sixteen abietane diterpenes (1, 7-17, and 19-22) demonstrated in vitro activities against human tumor cells, and 7 and 8 showed selective cytotoxicity to tumor cells over normal cells.

Although studies on microplastics are increasing every year, still very little is known about their toxicity. Especially for plant species, even studies of uptake of microplastics are only few, not to mention phytotoxicity of microplastics. Therefore, we conducted a pilot study on the phytotoxicity of 1-μm-sized fluorescent microplastics (FMPs) on the free-floating aquatic plants Spirodela polyrhiza and Salvinia natans and the emergent aquatic plant Phragmites australis using 0.

Background: Mesocosm experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of floating plant density on over-the-top spray solution loss to the column using a tracer dye. Experiments quantified in-water rhodamine water tracer (RWT) dye concentration after foliar treatment at 935 L ha to waterhyacinth [Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms], waterlettuce (Pistia stratiotes L.

Giant salvinia (Salvinia molesta) is one of the most noxious invasive species in the world. The fern is known to have primary, secondary, and tertiary growth forms, which are also commonly hypothesized as growth stages. The identification of these forms is primarily based on the size and folding status of the floating leaves.

The efficiency of a series of wetland colonized with Eichhornia crassipes and Salvinia molesta to treat the effluent of a giant river prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) broodstock pond was evaluated in this study. The experimental design was completely randomized and was performed in 9 rectangular tanks (1.6 m3) with three treatments (constructed wetlands) and three replicates.
