Splinting is the standard care for stabilizing replanted or repositioned permanent teeth following trauma. Traditionally, semirigid splints are used to stabilize a repositioned tooth, with support provided by adjacent teeth. However, in cases when the adjacent teeth are wide and/or can only provide minimal anchorage and support, it is difficult to fix the luxated tooth to its original position. This case report describes how a clear vacuum-formed splint was used to reposition and stabilize an avulsed maxillary left central incisor. Due to the avulsion, an unerupted canine, and partially erupted premolars, it was difficult to fabricate a traditional splint, hence the creation of the vacuum-formed splint.

Introduction: This study performed a 3-dimensional analysis of tooth movement during orthodontic retention to assess the effectiveness of double retention (fixed and removable) in preventing undesired tooth movement.
Methods: One hundred randomly selected patients were included at the initiation of double orthodontic retention with fixed retainers and vacuum-formed splints (recommended to be worn 22 h/d) in both arches. Intraoral scans were performed directly (T0), 1 month (n = 88), 3 months (T2) (n = 78), and 6 months (T3) (n = 66) after retainer bonding.

Purpose: The purpose of this ex vivo study was to compare the cleaning performance of three commercially available orthodontic cleaners on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) test specimens covered with biofilm.
Methods: Twenty subjects wore an individually manufactured vacuum-formed maxillary splint with four integrated PMMA test specimens for 7 days. The four test specimens were located on the buccal surfaces of the maxillary molars.

Treatment of orthodontic patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is challenging for orthodontists because of the TMD signs and symptoms and unstable mandible position, which may lead to improper diagnosis and treatment design. This case report presents a 22-year-old woman with proclined maxillary incisors and TMD. First, stabilization splint therapy was implemented to eliminate temporomandibular joint pain and to obtain the stable adapted centric posture.

Objectives: To measure polishability of occlusal splint materials manufactured by various methods.
Methods: Seven occlusal splint materials manufactured by four different methods - Heat cured (Vertex Rapid simplified Clear), CAD-milled (Ceramill a-splint), Vacuum-formed (Proform splint) and 3D-printed (Freeprint Ortho, KeySplint Soft, DentaClear and FreePrint Splint 2.0) were tested for gloss, roughness, and surface hardness and elastic modulus.
