Thymidine phosphorylase (TYMP) promotes platelet activation and thrombosis while suppressing vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation. Both processes are central to the development and progression of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). We hypothesize that TYMP plays a role in AAA development.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) seriously threatens women's health, and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as critical regulators of gene expression and play fundamental roles in TNBC. This study aimed to identify lncRNAs that represent effective targets for the early diagnosis or treatment of TNBC. Here, we utilized the TCGA database to analyze differentially expressed genes, and survival analysis and ROC curve analysis were also performed.

Synthetic vascular grafts are promising conduits for small caliber arteries. However, due to restenosis caused by intimal hyperplasia, they cannot keep long patency in vivo. In this work, through single cell RNA sequencing, we found that thrombospondin-1 (THBS1) was highly expressed in the regenerated smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in electrospun polycaprolactone (PCL) vascular grafts.

Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is the most aggressive form of thyroid cancer, has the worst prognosis, and lacks effective treatment in clinical practice. Thrombospondin-1 (THBS1) is a multifunctional extracellular matrix (ECM) glycoprotein that regulates cell proliferation, apoptosis, and metastasis, and is considered a potential clinical biomarker for the monitoring and prognostication of various tumors. However, the specific roles and molecular mechanisms of action of THBS1 in ATC remain unclear.

Zedoarondiol Inhibits Neovascularization in Atherosclerotic Plaques of ApoE Mice by Reducing Platelet Exosomes-Derived MiR-let-7a.

Chin J Integr Med

December 2024

Cardiovascular Department, Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Beijing, 100091, China.

Objective: To investigate the effect of zedoarondiol on neovascularization of atherosclerotic (AS) plaque by exosomes experiment.

Methods: ApoE mice were fed with high-fat diet to establish AS model and treated with high- and low-dose (10, 5 mg/kg daily) of zedoarondiol, respectively. After 14 weeks, the expressions of anti-angiogenic protein thrombospondin 1 (THBS-1) and its receptor CD36 in plaques, as well as platelet activation rate and exosome-derived miR-let-7a were detected.
