We characterised by pyrosequencing, the dynamics of cytomegalovirus populations harbouring mutations A594V in gene UL97 and A834P and Q578H in gene UL54 in a haematopoietic stem cell transplant recipient. Unexpected re-emergence of A594V and decrease of A834P under CMX001 were shown to depend on both the selection pressure exerted by the antiviral treatments and the immune response.

Aerobic glycolysis is a hallmark of many viral infections, leading to substantial accumulation of lactate. However, the regulatory roles of lactate during viral infections remain poorly understood. Here, we report that human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection leverages lactate to induce widespread protein lactylation and promote viral spread.

Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is a common herpesvirus that can severely affect transplant recipients, those with AIDS, and newborns. Existing synthetic medications face limitations, including toxicity, processing issues, and viral resistance. As part of this study, the efficacy of the extracellular enzyme laccase isolated from a widely available mushroom (Pleurotus pulmonarius) was compared to that of ganciclovir, a common antiviral, used against HCMV.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop a straightforward, easy-to-use online dynamic nomogram for the identification of children who are at high risk of developing acute kidney injury (AKI) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT).
Methods: This was a two-center study in which 242 children in Henan Provincial Children's Hospital composed the training cohort, and 115 children in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University composed the validation cohort. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to compare survival between children with nonacute kidney injury (NAKI) and children with AKI.

B-cell maturation antigen(BCMA)-directed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T-cell therapy has significantly improved the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (MM). Nevertheless, the uncommon phenomenon of biphasic CAR-T cell expansion in vivo and its related severe toxicities have not been methodically described and studied. Herein, we report a case of patients with MM who experienced two CAR-T cell expansion peaks and subsequently developed multiple severe toxicities following BCMA CAR-T cell infusion.
