Two common types of wrist arthritis are scapholunate advanced collapse (SLAC) and scaphoid nonunion advanced collapse (SNAC). In stage II SLAC or SNAC, there is arthritis between the scaphoid and the radius, sparing the cartilage between the capitate and the lunate and between the lunate and the radius. When nonsurgical treatment failed, scaphoidectomy plus capsulorrhaphy was used in 8 patients to provide pain relief without requiring an arthrodesis or compromising the radiolunate articulation. After surgery the pain scores improved from 8.5 preoperatively to 2.4 postoperatively. The Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH) score averaged 21, and the grip strength improved from 18 to 28 kg (81% of the contralateral side).

Conflict-affected regions face severe reproductive health challenges that disproportionately impact adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and children, who are especially vulnerable due to the breakdown of healthcare systems and limited access to essential services. AGYW are at heightened risk due to restricted access to family planning, prenatal care, and emergency obstetric services, while children face malnutrition, disease outbreaks, and developmental delays. These challenges have profound long-term consequences for both their physical and psychological well-being.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a complex and heterogeneous cardiac disorder, often complicated by cardiogenic shock, a life-threatening condition marked by severe cardiac output failure. Managing cardiogenic shock in HCM patients presents unique challenges due to the distinct pathophysiology of the disease, which includes dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, diastolic dysfunction, and myocardial ischemia. This review discusses current and emerging therapeutic strategies tailored to address the complexities of HCM-associated cardiogenic shock and other diseases with similar pathophysiology that provoke left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.

Heat stress poses a significant challenge to animal husbandry, contributing to oxidative stress, intestinal mucosal injury, and apoptosis, which severely impact animal health, growth, and production efficiency. The development of safe, sustainable, and naturally derived solutions to mitigate these effects is critical for advancing sustainable agricultural practices. Butyrolactone-I (BTL-I), a bioactive compound derived from deep-sea fungi (Aspergillus), shows promise as a functional feed additive to combat heat stress in animals.

An imbalance in the body's pH or temperature may modify the immune response and result in ailments such as autoimmune disorders, infectious diseases, cancer, or diabetes. Dual pH- and thermo-responsive carriers are being evaluated as advanced drug delivery microdevices designed to release pharmaceuticals in response to external or internal stimuli. A novel drug delivery system formulated as hydrogel was developed by combining a pH-sensitive polymer (the "biosensor") with a thermosensitive polymer (the delivery component).

Objectives: Pediatric sepsis results in significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. There is an urgent need to investigate adjunctive therapies that can be administered early. We hypothesize that using vitamin C combined with hydrocortisone increases survival free of inotropes/vasopressors support until day 7 compared with standard care.
