The outer wall of adaxial epidermal cells of onion bulb scales shows punctate callose deposits. The abundance of these callose deposits is highly variable, and seems to correlate with the distribution of ectodesmata. It is proposed that callose is involved in the regulation of ectodesmata as a waterflow regulator and/or molecular filter, thus influencing the cell-environment interaction.

Activated keratinocytes play a crucial role in skin inflammation through the production of multiple inflammatory mediators; however, little is known about cytokine secretion by activated keratinocytes in dogs. This study aimed to investigate the effects of the Th1 and Th2 types of cytokines on the production of keratinocyte-derived inflammatory mediators. Canine progenitor epidermal keratinocytes (CPEKs) were incubated with canine recombinant IL-4, IL-13, an IL4/IL13 mixture, IFN-γ, TNF-α, or an IFN-γ/TNF-α mixture for 24 h following 100% confluency.

Spheroids, as three-dimensional (3D) cell aggregates, can be prepared using various methods, including hanging drops, microwells, microfluidics, magnetic manipulation, and bioreactors. However, current spheroid manufacturing techniques face challenges such as complex workflows, the need for specialized personnel, and poor batch reproducibility. In this study, we designed a support-free, 3D-printed microwell chip and developed a compatible low-cell-adhesion process.

, a prevalent zoonotic pathogen, poses a significant threat to skin wound infections. This study evaluates the bactericidal efficacy of self-assembled peptide hydrogels, PPI45 and PPI47, derived from the defensin-derived peptide PPI42, against ATCC43300. The high-level preparation of PPI45 and PPI47 was achieved with yields of 1.

Cannabinoid compounds have potential as treatments for a variety of conditions, with cannabigerol (CBG) being known for its anti-inflammatory properties. In this study, we investigated the effects of CBG in a cellular model of 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (DNCB)-induced atopic dermatitis (AD). In the cellular model, we confirmed the cytotoxicity of CBG and downregulated the expression of inflammatory markers , , , and ( < 0.
