Background: Patent ductus arteriosus is one of the most common cardiac conditions affecting the neonates. Considering the lack of studies done on this topic in healthcare settings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, this study aims to find out the comparative effectiveness of paracetamol and ibuprofen in management of PDA in our healthcare setting to conclude a better management option for the condition.
Objective: To find and compare the effectiveness of paracetamol and ibuprofen in the closure of patent ductus arteriosus in preterm neonates.

Foramen ovale plays a key role in foetal circulation, however it may remain patent after birth throughout the life. Its patency is so frequent in healthy people (27-35%), such as to be considered a variant of normal. It is at risk of complications, like paradoxical embolism by right to left shunt with stroke, migraine, temporary blindness, as well as aneurysm, thrombosis and endocarditis of the fossa ovalis.

Biological semi-passive mine water treatment technologies are used in the mining industry as an alternative to or in conjunction with active treatment systems to remediate mine impacted water (MIW) containing nitrate and selenium oxyanions such as selenate and selenite. In semi-passive biological treatment systems, MIW is pumped through a saturated, porous media (either a gravel bed or waste rock) which provides ample surface area for biofilm growth and the creation of anoxic, subaqueous environments. Additional nutrients and carbon sources are pumped into the system to encourage the growth of microbes that biochemically reduce selenate and selenite to insoluble reduced Se species such as selenium nanoparticles (SeNP) by respiring selenate and selenite.

Patent foramen ovale (PFO), a cardiac anatomical anomaly inducing abnormal haemodynamics, leads to a paradoxical bypass of the pulmonary circulation. PFO closure might alleviate migraines; however, clinical evidence and basic experiments for the relationship are lacking. To explore the effect of PFO on migraine, 371 migraineurs finishing blood tests and contrast transthoracic echocardiography for the detection of PFO were prospectively included.
