NaYF4 : Yb3+, Er3+, Tm3+ nanoparticles were prepared by microemulsion-hydrothermal method. Crystal phase, morphology and structure of the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The luminescence properties were studied by up-conversional fluorescence spectroscopy. The XRD patterns of as-prepared samples were in agreement with the PDF # 77-2042 of cubic NaYF4. SEM images of the particles showed that the samples were cotton-like spherical in shape and which were assembled by smaller nano-particles. The average size was 120 nm, while the shape was regular and the particle size was homogeneous. Under the excitation of 980 nm, the as-prepared particles could emit blue (438 and 486 nm), green (523 and 539 nm) and red (650 nm) light simultaneously. It can be seen from the color coordinates figure (CIE) that when doping concentration ratio of Tm3+ and E3+ increased from 0 to 2, the whole emitting light color of samples movedto green region. While the ratio was 1 : 1, pseudo white light was obtained. As the ratio changed from 2 to 7, the luminous color was moved to red region.

In this study, we report the synthesis of iron oxide nanoparticles (FeONPs) using micro-emulsion-hydrothermal method. By adjusting the synthesis temperature, we successfully produced FeO nanorods and nanospheres. In addition, the 2-octanol, and the surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide served as a solvent in the synthesis process.

Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) have garnered significant attention from researchers due to their numerous technologically significant applications in diverse fields, including biomedicine, diagnostics, agriculture, optics, mechanics, electronics, sensing technology, catalysis, and environmental remediation. The superparamagnetic nature of MNP is exploited for many applications and remains fascinating to study many fundamental phenomena. The uniqueness of this review is that it gives an in-depth review of different synthesis approaches adopted for preparing magnetic nanoparticles and nanoparticle formation mechanisms, functionalizing them with different capping agents, and applying different functionalized magnetic nanoparticles.

Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides are of particular interest in high-performance photothermal conversion, yet there remains a huge challenge in their practical application in smart textiles for healthcare, energy, and personal protection. Herein, we controllably prepared MoS hollow nanospheres with a high photothermal conversion efficiency of 36% via a microemulsion-hydrothermal method, which was further applied to construct photothermal fibers for personal thermal management after a hot-blast dip-drying process. Because of the prominent photothermal effect, the temperature of the photothermal fibers sharply increases from the room temperature value of 25.

The TiO nanoparticles with high photocatalytic activity were prepared by the surfactant-free microemulsion (SFME)-hydrothermal method at lower temperatures using oil-in-water SFME systems as templates. The phase diagram of the SFME ethyl acetate (EA)/propan-2-ol/water was determined by electrical conductivity and UV-visible spectroscopy. The synthesized TiO nanoparticles were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and N adsorption-desorption techniques.

Hydroxyapatites (HAps) with nano-sized structures are promising materials in various biomedical areas, but the synthesis of high quality particles is still challenged by the insufficient precision of size and morphology, as well as the presence of severe agglomeration. An inadequate knowledge of the early nucleation, growth and transformation might limit our exploration and application of HAp. Here, we report a novel oil/water microemulsion-hydrothermal hybrid strategy for the preparation of highly dispersive HAps with tailored morphologies and controlled size.
