An 8-year-old cat was presented with severe neurological deficits secondary to a traumatic cervical spinal cord injury caused by an airgun pellet. This report describes, for the first time, the myelographic findings of a dural rupture in a cat and also describes a bilateral Horner's syndrome in a cat.

Aims: We observed modern spring-loaded air rifles reaching velocities similar to small-bore rifles, raising concerns about their potential lethality. After encountering two life-threatening thoracic injuries in our practice, we conducted a study to assess the injuries that a commonly available air rifle could cause in a porcine cadaver model.

Methods: We conducted shooting experiments from 5 and 10 metres away using a .

Marine vibrators are a new technology being developed for seismic surveys. These devices can transmit continuous instead of impulsive sound and operate over a narrower frequency band and at lower peak pressure than airguns, which is assumed to reduce their environmental impacts. We exposed spawning Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) to sound produced by a prototype, but full-scale, marine vibrator, and monitored behavioural responses of tagged cod using acoustic telemetry.

Background: An improvised air gun with marble bullets, locally known as "Jolen Gun", is a type of home-made gun using Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes and compressed air. It is mainly being used as a hunting tool in Central Mindanao. This "non-lethal" weapon has the potential in causing serious harm.

In impact assessments for underwater noise, the duration of a transient signal is often expressed by the 90%-energy signal duration τ90 %. Consequently, the rms sound pressure is computed over this duration. Using a large set of measurements on marine-seismic airgun signals, it is shown that τ90 % is often very close to the interval between the primary and secondary pulse (the bubble period) or a small integer multiple thereof.

Penetrating head injury is a serious open cranial injury. In civilians, it is often caused by non-missile, low velocity flying objects that penetrate the skull through a weak cranial structure, forming intracranial foreign bodies. The intracranial foreign body can be displaced due to its special quality, shape, and location.
